Good Samaritan Hospital’s DEI Committee hosted a celebration of India’s Independence Day with traditional Indian food, a little history lesson, singing and dancing! A group of colleagues made it memorable by doing a sing-along of the Indian national anthem and sharing fun Indian dance moves. India’s Independence Day is celebrated annually on August 15th as a public holiday in India, commemorating the nation's independence from the United Kingdom on August 15, 1947.

Good Samaritan Hospital hosted a breast milk donation drive in partnership with Mothers’ Milk Bank in honor of National Breastfeeding Month. Community members contributed by bringing in frozen milk to donate. Mothers’ Milk Bank of California is a pioneering nonprofit dedicated to providing screened, donated human milk to vulnerable infants.

When Mother Baby Nurse Elisabeth Canoy was asked why she became a nurse, she said it's been a dream since she was a kid, "it all started when I was about five years old…for years, my parents got me nursing kits for Christmas, and I would bandage my dolls.” She continued, “It has been the greatest blessing of my life to be able to utilize something that I had a heart and passion for from a very early age.” Thank you for sharing your story, Elisabeth! Join us in welcoming Marie-Elizabeth “Liz” Turner, our new VP of Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital! Liz brings over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with expertise in laboratory operations, operating room management, supply chain optimization and more. In her current role as Division Director for OR for HCA, she spearheaded numerous initiatives that transformed the Far West OR operations, propelling them from the least productive 15th out of 15 to an impressive 4th out of 15. This achievement is a testament to her strategic vision and leadership capabilities. Liz enjoys spending time with her family and entertaining friends in her free time. She's a self-proclaimed foodie who also admires unique architectural designs. Welcome to the team, Liz!
