Florida continues to shine as a top tourist destination! In the second quarter of 2024, the state welcomed a record-breaking 34.2 million visitors—a 1.7% increase over the same period in 2023, marking a new all-time high for second-quarter visitation in Florida's history. Domestic tourism saw strong growth with 31.5 million visitors, up 1.8% from last year. International visitation also increased by 1.8%, with 2 million overseas travelers and approximately 739,000 Canadians choosing Florida for their vacation. These impressive numbers underscore Florida’s appeal and its thriving tourism sector. Let's continue to welcome visitors from around the world to experience everything our state has to offer. #BroughtToYouByTourism

The #GMCVB attended the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association's Annual Celebrating Our Hotels Presentation & Reception! 🌟 The event highlighted the latest renovations, groundbreaking projects, and exciting new hotel openings happening across Greater Miami and Miami Beach.

At the 40th annual ESTO conference, the U.S. Travel Association announced the recipients of the 2024 Destiny and Mercury Awards, and the #GMCVB was recognized with the Best Digital and Social Media Campaign award. Our “Find Your Voice” campaign, developed in collaboration with Sony Music Latin America and the City of Miami Beach, was highlighted for its impact. This campaign celebrates the significant influence of #MiamiBeach’s vibrant culture on Latin music, showcasing local performers who are an integral part of our community. It’s a testament to the diversity and creativity that make Miami Beach a unique destination for culture and the arts.

The #GMCVB’s Connie W. Kinnard was a speaker at the Women Leading Travel & Hospitality Roundtable, held at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables in Miami. This event brought together female executives from leading travel and hospitality companies to discuss industry-leading strategies, share in-depth research and foster professional development and networking.

The #GMCVB joined Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, along with leaders from the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority (MDIA), Miami International Airport (MIA) and the Office of Innovation and Economic Development (OIED), to unveil the winners of the Public Innovation Challenge. This exciting initiative is dedicated to enhancing the passenger experience at MIA by integrating cutting-edge technology. The winners, selected from a competitive pool of 136 global tech companies, are: RouteMe Wayfinding: AI-powered navigation using just your phone camera. Signapse (UK): Generative AI for text-to-sign language translation, improving accessibility for Deaf passengers. Mapsted: Advanced wayfinding with smart technology integration. These innovative solutions will be piloted at MIA, with the potential to revolutionize airport services worldwide. As the largest gateway to our community and a leading economic engine, MIA's success directly impacts the livelihoods of our residents and businesses. This initiative is a testament to Miami-Dade’s commitment to equity, resilience and innovation, ensuring that we remain a global leader in sustainable and inclusive travel.
