We are deploying solutions likes drones to help keep customers connected and safe in the face of increasingly frequent and severe storms. Here's a story WCAX-TV did on our drone program! There are so many benefits:   - Technology speeds up damage assessment on remote, rugged, off-road lines - Faster repairs for customers, including after Debby brought storm damage to Vermont - Greater safety for field crews working in dangerous conditions  - Latest tool enhancing system resiliency while driving down costs for GMP customers In addition, we have been working proactively with proven solutions by rapidly undergrounding lines in many areas, storm-hardening above ground lines with stronger cables and spacer cable, and expanding energy storage. #innovation #resiliency #vt #letsgo

This includes expanding energy storage, undergrounding of lines, and storm hardening overhead lines so everyone stays powered up by 2030. #energystorage #innovation "In total, Green Mountain Power has access to 50 megawatts of battery storage from school buses, home batteries and other sources, said Mari McClure, the utility’s chief executive. That’s as much as a small gas power plant. Unlike a plant that runs on fossil fuels, the power is available almost instantly. The utility asked Vermont regulators last month to allow it to install batteries at the homes of its customers who don’t already have one, an effort that would dovetail with its work on school buses."

Green Mountain Power's Zero Outages Initiative is a first in the nation plan so customers stay powered up no matter the weather or their location. We will do this by 2030 by accelerating solutions like undergrounding lines, storm hardening overhead lines with insulated, stronger wire and energy storage for all. 🎉🎉🎉 Great news! All our customers will now have access to seamless, cost-effective home battery backup power! We requested to lift the enrollment caps on our popular Powerwall and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) home battery programs. Removing the cap allows more customers access to the program as Vermont sees increasingly severe weather due to climate change. Regulators agreed, citing growing customer demand for home batteries, the likelihood of more extreme weather in the future. These innovative home battery programs benefit all GMP customers, delivering millions in savings each year.  #innovation #storage #resiliency #teamvt
