One of our customers asked us if we could de-integrate our axial inverter and sell it in a standalone package so they could use it to drive some pumps and other loads on their aircraft. We said sure, no problem. Two months later, we’re shipping out the first four HPDI-190s! Here are the notable features: + Silicon Carbide (SiC) three-phase inverter + Continuous Power: 190 kW (at PF=1) + Max Bus Voltage: 450VDC or 800VDC + Max Phase Current: 190 Arms + Mass: 2 kg + Power Density: 95 kW/kg + Peak Efficiency: > 99% + Control Modes: Torque, speed, generator (voltage setpoint) + Integrated common mode filtering If you need an extremely power dense inverter, shoot us a message!

For all of you ⚙gearbox⚙ enthusiasts: if you liked the last post of our HPDM-250 gearbox, check this out! While you can always run 3D oil flow CFD on a wet sump, nothing quite beats a slow motion video of the real thing with a clear housing 😎

H3X Technologies' integrated motor drives In this issue's dossier, Rory Jackson explores how the Colorado-based is boosting the power density of its motor drives to take electric aircraft even further. Key discussion points in this article: ⚡ System concept and architecture ⚡ Stator winding and insulation ⚡ Thermal conductivity ⚡ Choosing stator laminations ⚡ Magnetic performance ⚡ Coolant designs ⚡ Inverter challenges ⚡ Mitigating SiC and EMI issues ⚡ Motor controls Click here to read the full article ▶ https://lnkd.in/e2J3mF8z We would like to Max Liben, Eric Maciolek & Jason Sylvestre from H3X for lending their time, knowledge, and expertise so that we could deliver such a fantastic article. #electricaviation #electricmotors #electricflight #powertrain #evmanufacturing #motors

We had the privilege of sitting down with Rory Jackson from our favorite magazine, E-Mobility Engineering, to discuss our technology and how we are pushing out the pareto curve of electric motor performance to unlock widespread commercial electric aviation. This cover story goes deeper than ever before and we uncover everything from the #electricmotor design to the #powerelectronics and the integration between them. If you take away one thing from this article, it should be that there is that there is no silver bullet. Getting to >10 kW/kg power density requires significant advancements in several different areas. While many competitors rely on complex topologies and traditional optimization techniques to achieve higher power density, the performance levels needed for electric aviation require us to go a step further by questioning the most fundamental assumptions that feed into the engineering optimization process. This has driven H3X to innovate on a deeper level with new materials, in-house manufacturing technologies, and novel integration techniques. 2023 was an amazing year for H3X. We hit some huge milestones in proving out our core technology, ramping up manufacturing, and commercialization. Here’s a quick recap of some of the major achievements: • Moved into our new 17,000 sq-ft headquarters facility in Louisville, CO and built out pilot production. • Closed key strategic investment from Lockheed Martin. • Achieved industry leading power densities of 12.5 kW/kg for the HPDM-250 and 8.5 kW/kg for the HPDM-30 on our dyno. • Manufactured over 25 motors. • Secured firm orders from some of the best aerospace and defense companies in the world working on everything from hypersonic aircraft to hydrogen-powered commercial aviation. • Shipped product to these customers. • Closed out our NASA contract ahead of schedule, won another one. • Completed all technical deliverables for our AFWERX Ph II contract. • Ground tested the HPDM-250 with our partner, Stralis Aircraft (YC W23), in their aircraft and successfully completed mission profiles ahead of our first flight next year. • Doubled the size of our team. Special thanks to our incredible customers, investors, partners, and, most of all, our team members and families for making this our best year yet. We’re about to kick it up a notch in 2024 and are fired up to get back to work and hit the ground running. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from all of us at H3X.
