Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County transforms lives and communities by building and preserving affordable homes with families in need, and by uniting all New Yorkers around the cause of affordable housing. Habitat NYC and Westchester creates, preserves, and advocates for healthy, affordable homes and the generational equity building opportunities that homeownership provides. With the support of thousands of volunteers each year, we’re building a more equitable New York—to address centuries of unjust, racist, housing laws and financing mechanisms that prevented communities of color from entering the homeownership market and shaped the geography of the wealth, health, and education inequality we see today. Habitat NYC and Westchester builds a more equitable New York by creating, preserving, and advocating for, opportunities for families and communities to build equity through affordable homeownership. Using the tools of non-profit developers, community land trusts, limited-equity co-ops, and rental-to-ownership conversions, we are creating an infrastructure for equity with benefits that span generations and increase the wealth, health, and education of our communities.

We’re honored to introduce Wells Fargo as one of our 2024 Habitat House Party Honorees! Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Foundation have donated more than $136 million to Habitat for Humanity International and local affiliates, supporting new home construction and repairs, helping older adults age in place in their homes, and neighborhood revitalization and disaster response efforts. Since 2006, their partnership with Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County has been pivotal, bringing substantial funding and hundreds of volunteers to expand affordable homeownership opportunities. Their #WellsFargoBuilds initiative has been instrumental in transforming vacant lots and dilapidated houses into our Habitat Net Zero development—a pioneering mix of new and rehabilitated green homes Join us at this year’s Habitat House Party: habitatnycwc.org/gala2024 #40yearsoffoundationsforthefuture #40thanniversary #hhp2024

“Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County knows the power and importance of affordable housing and homeownership. We've spent the past 40 years building and preserving more than 2,600 homes for low- to moderate-income families in all five boroughs. Affordable homeownership is a critical part of the housing continuum. In order to build an equitable city, it is imperative to invest in solutions that build family and community equity. "The #CityofYes updates our collective toolbox of strategies to help meet current needs and advance equity building by enabling the construction of more housing in every neighborhood...This is a big step in laying that foundation for this more equitable city." - Sabrina Lippman, CEO, Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County Watch Sabrina's full testimony: https://lnkd.in/ehrd7kq2
