Enjoyed getting to attend the California Cannabis Industry Association policy showcase yesterday in Sac. So many great ideas to help move the industry forward from streamlining licensing, making it easier to donate products to medical users, increasing vape recycling and more. I enjoyed learning what challenges local cannabis business are facing, proactive ideas to solve those challenges and just meeting other people to connect about their favorite experiences and products in Cannabis. I am concerned that disposable vapes are adding to the mountain of electronic trash. Recycling programs are (1) expensive and cost the companies doing it a lot of money to be environmentally responsible, (2) not available, there aren't many places that will recycle vapes so they just go into the trash, and (3) those who have tried discontinued their programs. Would be great if the industry could come together to solve this rather than making more trash. I heard that Ispire is working on a device made with more sustainable materials... I'm intrigued. - EDIBLES: The most innovative and exciting new edible was Happy Chance, a healthier edibles brand by Katherine Knowlton. The food and cannabis quality and ethos are aligned, this best-in-class edible is chef-crafted perfection. Also shoutout to Ay Papi for launching a live rosin gummy made with Huckleberry Hill Whitethorn Rose. Their rosin is exceptional, I can't wait to try it in gummy form. - FLOWER: Not only is their sun-grown flower some of the best in Nor Cal, Sol Spirit Farm switched to 100% home compostable packaging! Every design detail from the box unfolding into a rolling tray to the compostable container made from plant-based materials is incredible. Also, shoutout to AJ's Kimchi strain! - WELLNESS: The RSO tablets from Emerald Bay Extracts are phenomenal, especially the CBG tablets. They feel good, are high-dose for medical consumers, and they've been flying off the shelves for at Cornerstone Wellness. Loving the new Now Melt line from Autumn Brands (beautiful work Angela Pih!) - ACCESSORIES: Puffco's new Ripple and Flourish lines are elegant AF. The Bohemian Chemist's collaboration with Protopipe is a stunning throwback to smoking from another time. More insights and observations coming up in my Substack!
