From today in downtown Las Vegas when a customer orders a Halo.car, it will arrive driverless. After months of intensive testing, we are removing safety drivers from our remote deliveries. This is the world's first commercial deployment of driverless remote-piloted vehicles and a huge milestone for Halo on our mission to make getting a car on demand ubiquitous, easy, and affordable. Super grateful to the Halo.car team, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, and our many partners and investors have been part of the journey here. #mobility #driverlessdelivery #electricvehicles #climatetech #lasvegas #carshare #5G

What if every rental car was delivered? Today we’re announcing the Halo.Car beta program - for the first time offering our remote piloting technology to other fleets. We announced the program this morning at the International Car Rental Show as well as the first two fleets joining the beta program - Joulez, Inc and EV Access This is a huge day for Halo and for the whole rental industry. So excited to get this tech out into more fleets, more markets, and more customers! Link to coverage and the program page in the comments. #ICRS2024

Looking forward to this conversation with our CEO Anand Nandakumar, Justin Holmes, Alexandra Lougovoy, and Andrés Ruiz Vargas-Machuca this morning, to share our thoughts on the past (and future!) of carsharing. Zipcar Vulog Minits
The MIT Mobility Initiative is delighted to announce the MIT Mobility Forum Spring 2024 hosted by Prof. Jinhua Zhao kicks off this Friday. Forum Title: Carsharing – Has it finally come of age? With ever-increasing vehicle prices, higher maintenance costs, increasing insurance premiums, shortage of mechanics, complex electronics, and reduced parking minimums, personal car ownership seems to be facing headwinds. Is this the hour of reckoning for carsharing to come out of the shadows and take a more prominent position in our cities? Can this be the push needed to nudge folks to give up private cars and move to car share? Or is the value assigned to having your own car at your beck and call still higher than the cost? Car share has the potential to drastically improve land use, reduce congestion in cities, decrease expenditure and the hassles/stresses of private car ownership. However, carsharing has its issues and has traditionally struggled with profitability. Join moderator Bhuvan Atluri and four expert panelists from global car-sharing providers with varying fleet types, new technologies, and different business models to discuss what is going well, what needs improvement, and how carsharing can help us de-carbonize the transportation sector. #MIT #mitmobilityinitiative #mobility #carsharing Fridays 12:00-13:00 ET, Feb 16 - May 24, 2024 The MIT Mobility Forum is open to the public.
