The Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra is a treasured community asset thanks to the support of thousands of music lovers each year. Our organization and musicians are leaders for the arts—performing great music, strengthening music education for all ages, and enhancing the cultural vitality and quality of life in these islands. Today, especially during this time of collective rebuilding for Hawai‘i, the HSO remains a committed and valued community asset, and as we plan for the future, a Symphony that is shaped by Hawai‘i, whose offerings are unique of Hawai‘i, and whose vision for the future is designed for Hawai‘i.

Our vision to be a symphony shaped by Hawai‘i extends beyond the stage through our partnership with Center for Tomorrow's Leaders. It has been our absolute pleasure to have two CTL alumni work with us at HSO.
Over the summer, CTL alumni have the opportunity to intern with Hawai'i-based organizations to learn what it's like to lead in the workforce. Stephanie Lobato, Director Of Advancement at Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra, works to connect her community with meaningful, artistic experiences. She also seeks to mentor and develop our generation of local leaders. Stephanie served as a mentor for our Summer in Hawai'i interns, Cheyial Esau and Jenna Balmilero. She shares that "Character shone through both our CTL interns, as did their connectedness and responsibility to Hawai'i. It was such a privilege to have two interns come in with the same values as our organization. Cheyial was courageous - no symphonic background, but she put energy into our social media when we were burnt out emerging from the pandemic. She put life back into our work when we needed it the most. Jenna also did not hold back in giving us resources we could use. She saw the needs of our organization and developed tools that we still use every day! Hawai'i's future is so bright with leaders like these on the rise."
