Meet David Bertram, HMT's talented Virtual Reality Engineer, who has been part of our team since 2013! Originally from Mesa, Arizona, David's journey with HMT began after he spent most of his career as a residential electrician. David started with us as a Facility Maintenance Technician at TDC before advancing to the Technical Services group as an Equipment Technician, and later as Equipment and Logistics Manager. In March 2020, he transitioned to the role of Scheduler for the Products group. By March 2024, David found his true calling as our Virtual Reality Engineer, crafting immersive VR training and experiences that set new standards for our industry. Fun fact: David’s innovative VR work played a key role in HMT winning the Best Use of Technology award at ILTA 2024! David reflects on his journey, saying, "I initially joined HMT because my electrical background was a perfect fit for the production facility. I could have never imagined the amazing journey that would be set in motion, leading to a career that combines my greatest passions. The support I have received at HMT has led me to where I dreamed of being most of my life." Outside of work, David enjoys coding, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and is an avid gamer. His diverse skill set and passion for technology continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible at HMT. We are pleased to have Jason Hair join us as the new Director of Safety at HMT! Jason is a passionate safety professional with over 20 years of experience in oil and gas construction, maintenance, and operations. His career has spanned roles from individual contributor to senior leadership within diverse organizations conducting high-risk activities. Some of his key accomplishments include developing and implementing management systems and processes that align organizations while providing nuance for diverse activities, deploying HSE resources and teams to reduce incidents and enable higher quality and performance, and stewarding the development of “safety in design” processes to eliminate hazards for end users in the project design phase. Jason says, “I am most excited for the opportunity to understand the challenges that our dedicated employees face, harness the collective intelligence of the organization to solve them, and create repeatable, predictable operations that improve communications, efficiency, quality, and safety.”   Outside of work, Jason is a dedicated husband to his wife Holley and father to two amazing daughters, Gracie and Cora. Their interests include watching soccer (his oldest played five years at the Division One level at the University of Central Arkansas, and his youngest is currently playing at the University of Arkansas – GO HOGS!), golf (his wife was a two-time national champion with the University of Tulsa, coached there, and they owned and operated a teaching facility), health and fitness, and skiing (both snow and water). Jason is most looking forward to helping everyone at HMT achieve their professional goals, enabling his team to thrive, and celebrating the accomplishments of the entire HMT team!

Join us in welcoming Stephen Guion, our new Vice President of Inspection at HMT! Stephen brings 28 years of experience leading global service and operations teams, driving process improvement, and growing businesses in the oil and gas and medical industries. His career began managing a small medical equipment repair business, and over the years, he has learned that business fundamentals span all industries, with employees and customers being the most important aspects. As a Director of Operations for North America, he led a first-class field service team whose success he credits to the team's excellence. He also managed large global critical equipment manufacturing operations, where he learned the value of quality and the inspection process, employing technologies similar to those used at HMT Inspection. Stephen says, “I am most excited about joining a team that is truly dedicated to being a leader in their industry. Every interaction I had with the leadership team before accepting the job confirmed it, and every subsequent interaction has supported it as well. It is extremely hard to instill pride and commitment in a team. I don’t have to worry about that here!” In his spare time, Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, and daughter-in-law. He enjoys shooting shotguns, usually at sporting clays, dove, or quail. He also likes to canoe when he can find some nice still water... he says Louisiana bayous are the best. And when in season, he will be boiling crawfish in the backyard at any opportunity he can! Stephen is looking forward to partnering with the Inspection team to grow quickly and is excited about the future of HMT!

This month’s employee spotlight is Brandon Benoit, one of our API Inspectors on the Louisiana Coast! Brandon is from Thibodeaux, Louisiana, and has been in the inspection game since 2007, becoming a certified API 653 inspector in 2013. He’s now based out of our Geismar, LA office, where he leads his crew during both in-service and out-of-service inspections. Lately, he’s also been helping new API 653 inspectors get up to speed with field paperwork, checklists, and procedures. When asked about why he chose HMT, Brandon said, "I didn't exactly choose HMT; HMT chose me. I consider myself fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time, which allowed me to progress in my career. One of the aspects I enjoy the most about working at HMT is the opportunity to travel and see the world. Additionally, the team around me is exceptional. I work with some of the best professionals in the industry, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." When he's not working, Brandon is a huge bookworm. In the past year alone, he's read over 119 books and is always looking to learn something new. His passion for reading and constant learning shows just how dedicated he is, both in his personal life and his career. Keep up the great work, Brandon!
