What happens to a water heater over 20 years?  This video shows a few things that happen.   Ray, an instructor at Hoffmann Brothers University, recorded this video while taking an old water heater apart.   This clip shows a few common issues with sediment in water heaters. - The water you drink and bathe in flows through this tank. Gross! There is a misconception here in St Louis that we have ‘good water’. This footage shows the value of water treatment and water quality. A good plumber can give you options to make sure your water heater doesn’t look like this. - Sediment buildup reduces the lifespan and efficiency of the water heater. Ray found more than 4” of sediment in the bottom of this 20-year-old tank.  The sediment acts as a layer of insulation between the flame and the water you are trying to heat. - Sediment also slows down the rate at which your water heats up. If you find yourself running out of hot water, you might have a sediment problem.    Thanks to Ray for making this video and giving me an excuse to share these tips.    If you have any water heater questions, drop them below. I’ll do my best to answer.

Last week, our Commercial Operations Manager, John, collaborated with Hoffmann Brothers to provide specialized training for their commercial field professionals. This training focused on key aspects of spotting potential issues on commercial buildings, ensuring that technicians are well-equipped to identify potential issues early on. By sharpening their ability to spot wear and tear, structural problems, and storm damage, the training enhances their ability to provide comprehensive options to their customers! #Partnership #CustomerService #CommercialSolutions

Last year, Jess was fixing jacuzzi tubs on a showroom floor. She wanted to get into the trades, but... She didn't know how to get started with a company. She couldn't afford the $30,000/year tuition for traditional trade school. She couldn't do night school because as a single mom without enough childcare. Then she heard about a Hoffmann Brothers University plumbing class for people interested in getting started with the plumbing trade. The course would involve both intensive lab time and field training with experienced Hoffmann Brothers plumbers. Plus students would get paid during their training. And because students technically became Hoffmann Brothers employees upon beginning the program, she and her kids could immediately get great health insurance coverage.  Jess applied. Out of 150 applicants, Jess was 1 of 5 people accepted to the program. We started HBU to create a path into the trades that otherwise wouldn't be there for people. The HBU path prioritizes: • cost-effectiveness • practical experience • the people. Jess and her classmates went through 5 months of rigorous training with Christian Telford and other great professionals. They graduated from that course in February. Jess has now started her career as a plumber and is doing well. Why do I share her story? Because Jess is inspiring. And she's exactly the type of talented, motivated person we need more of coming into the trades.

CEO @ Deutschmann Lane Holdings - Improving Life in Every Home!

My dad started our business in 1988. He aspired to reach $10 million of revenue during his career. In 2016, he passed the torch at Hoffmann Brothers to my brother Joe and I, having achieved this goal. Here are five invaluable lessons our dad taught us. 1. How you get there matters as much as where you are going.      He once was given the option to use eminent domain to take control of an adjacent home to grow our business.  Instead, he bought and rehabbed a house across the street and traded for the home we needed. 2. Don't compete on price.      Be the best.  People pay a premium for the best.     3. Be generous.      With your teams.  In your communities.  It always comes back to you tenfold. 4. Being a business owner doesn't mean you can't be a great (and present) dad.      He coached my baseball team.  He got home for family dinner (most nights).  He spent his weekends with his family. 5. There is always enough time in the day.      To take care of yourself.  To be with your family.  To build a great business.    Manage it well.  In 2024, our current brands will reach $140 million. ------------ If you're interested in joining Hoffmann Brothers, we have a number of roles we're actively hiring for in both St. Louis and Nashville. Vice President, Market Expansion at Hoffmann Brothers - Improving Lives in Every Home!

I've learned that if I go into a meeting with plans for how everyone else will behave... There's at least a 50/50 chance I'll be let down. At work, it's natural to create an idea for how we want a conversation to go. We schedule out every sentence and plan for certain responses, like it's a script. But here's the thing: People just don't follow those scripts I make up in my head! I heard somebody express frustration after a recent meeting. They said, "Well, that didn't go how I planned." Of course it didn't. People are unpredictable! And in that moment, is the person in that situation more frustrated because something went wrong or because things just didn't go the way they wanted? I expect it's the latter. I've found that eliminating my expectations going into conversations has also eliminated a lot of the stress around conversations. I try to hedge my bets. Focus on what I can control in the situation— What I am going to do and say. That's all we can do, right? --------- If you're interested in joining the Hoffmann Brothers team, we're looking to fill a number of positions in both St. Louis and Nashville. You can see the open positions and how to apply at this link, and feel free to message me if you have any questions. https://lnkd.in/eznwzS9T
