Alaka‘i Development has secured $135 million in financing and is on its way to delivering Ewa Beach’s first hotel: a dual-branded Hyatt Place and extended-stay Hyatt House for the Ho‘opili master-­planned community. Construction could start in 2025 on the project, which is on 3.49 acres at 91-3456 Nana Hope St. in Ewa Beach, within the Ho‘opili master-planned community, the University of Hawaii West Oahu and a Skyline rail station. AES Hawai‘i has launched Kuihelani solar-plus-storage, the state’s largest solar power facility. The Central Maui project is a key part of Hawaii’s aggressive 2045 Clean Energy Initiative goals as well as AES’ own 2040 goal of net zero carbon emissions from electricity sales. Hawaii automobile sales plunge as owners hang on to vehicles Hawaii vehicle owners are keeping their trucks and cars longer than ever as expectations have diminished that the local market will see a significant rise in sales this year. Sales are now projected to gain just 1.1% in 2024 versus a first-quarter annual forecast of 3.7%, according to a second-quarter report released recently from Hawaii Auto Outlook.
