That's right! The Illinois Cannabis Consumption Association is oriented towards the cannabis consumer. We want to create safe social spaces for Illinoisans to use cannabis products and for Illinois to adopt consumer-centric and friendly laws. Controversial take: cannabis “transporters” only exist in IL because of reefer mania 😵💫 We shouldn’t have to transport a plant in a fortified vehicle with cameras on all angles. The government wants to track our plant, and this is how they keep their LITERAL eye on it for every step. I want a world where we legalize the plant outside of dispensary channels - where cannabis can be distributed like alcohol and cigarettes. Does the state keep such a watchful eye on those products? I want to see my actual community legalized, not just legal dispensaries and licenses growers. Why shouldn’t small growers, who currently take on risk in the shadows, be able to bring and sell their product to me? Why didn’t we legalize the current cannabis culture & scene? The idea of so onerously regulating the transport of cannabis doesn’t support the overall cause of normalization in my opinion. YET! This was the premiere issue on the docket for IL cannabis reform this past Veto session…. To further limit who could transport our plant. As the Illinois Cannabis Consumption Association gets ready to advocate for the cannabis CONSUMER of IL, we want to keep reefer-mania out of our advocacy as much as possible.
