𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐃’𝐬 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲! IMPD’s Crime and Intelligence Analysis Section is currently hiring Civilian Analysts to join our Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) and our Strategic Analysis and Operational Support Unit! 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐑𝐓𝐂𝐂) 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬: Analysts assigned to the RTCC leverage IMPD technologies such as public safety cameras, license plate readers, and intelligence sources to enhance IMPD’s response to crimes in progress and other public safety threats. These analysts also participate in the collection, collation, analysis, dissemination, and evaluation of crime data to discover leads. A RTCC Analyst aides in a wide variety of activities as related to all IMPD Units in the Criminal Investigation Division and Operations Division. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬: Analysts assigned to the Strategic Analysis and Operational Support Unit support IMPD police districts with tactical and strategic analysis in aide of various violence reduction initiatives. These analysts use data analysis techniques, research methods, and geospatial analytics to identify crime trends, enhance strategic priorities, and assess resource allocation. Analysts within this unit also provide live operational support and assist active investigations by monitoring camera systems, utilizing a variety of databases, and conducting open-source analysis across multiple platforms. Whether assigned to the RTCC or the Strategic Analysis and Operational Support Unit, analysts within the Crime and Intelligence Analysis Section work collaboratively to identify crime trends, assist in the investigation of criminal activity, and enhance IMPD’s public safety objectives. 🚨 IMPD Responds to Disturbance & Teams up With the IFD to Manage House Fire 🚒    ️IMPD responded to a disturbance last month that quickly escalated into a house fire. Officers acted quickly to secure the area and attempt to manage the fire, until Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters arrived on scene to extinguish the fire.     IMPD officers worked together to get everyone out safely and make apprehension of the suspect on scene, without any injuries.     A big thank you to our brave officers and the IFD firefighters for their dedication and teamwork as they continue to keep our community safe.     #IMPD #PublicSafety #HeroicResponse #CommunitySupport

This month on Before the Badge, we’re highlighting Officer Tarah Butcher’s incredible journey into law enforcement. She attributes her childhood and academic path to shaping her into the officer she is today. With a PhD in neuroscience, Officer Butcher combines her knowledge and compassion to better serve the community each day. 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐃 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝟐𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 Today marks the 20th anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Officer Timothy “Jake” Laird. Officer Laird was tragically shot and killed while responding to a call about a man firing a rifle in the street. Three additional officers were wounded during the incident on that night. Today, we remember not only Officer Laird’s ultimate sacrifice but also the courage, honor, and resilience shown by all officers involved. Time will never diminish their bravery. On Friday, IMPD Southeast District Commander Ron Hicks, alongside Jake’s parents, Mike and Debbie Laird, hosted a memorial roll call in Officer Laird’s honor, paying tribute to the officers and supervisors involved in this tragic incident. May Officer Laird’s service and sacrifice never be forgotten.
