Last week, I had the honor of meeting the Mexican Ambassador of Oxnard, California. We had an inspiring conversation about the Ventanilla de Asesoría Financiera program in partnership with Inclusiv / Juntos Avanzamos and three Juntos Avanzamos credit unions. This program is important because it empowers the Mexican and Hispanic communities by providing financial education, resources, and guidance. It is about breaking down barriers and opening doors to financial opportunities, ensuring everyone has the tools they need to succeed. Together, we are making a difference and advancing financial inclusion for all! ¡Juntos avanzamos!

Join us for an exciting session as we explore how credit unions can leverage the benefits of Inclusiv’s $1.87 billion green lending grant program, a key component of the Federal government’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) Clean Communities Investment Accelerator program (CCIA). This session will provide an overview of green lending and its role in creating an inclusive and equitable transition to a greener economy. Learn how this award will enable Inclusiv to direct grants and assistance to high-impact credit unions and cooperativas, helping underserved communities across the country to thrive in a sustainable future. NJFCU hosted an inspiring "Juntos Avanzamos: Together We Advance Celebration." The event included a signing ceremony that brought together special guests, including presidents from our sister credit unions, Yanio Concepcion Silva from the Dominican Republic, and Aurelio Arroyo from Puerto Rico. During the event, each president signed an official partnership agreement with our organization. We were thrilled to have several consulates and trailblazers join the event. All delegates and honorees are dedicated to helping members of all three credit unions with their financial transactions domestically and abroad, making the process as seamless and easy as possible. The Juntos Avanzamos initiative will allow immigrants to deposit and withdraw funds, take out loans for homes, establish businesses, and at the same time help educate them on the importance of financial health practices and awareness of economic opportunities. The credit union is passionate about expanding our membership to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to achieve their financial goals, no matter who they are or where they are from. In 2012, Cliff Rosenthal retired from the Federation, now known as Inclusiv. He returned to Washington to establish the Office of Financial Empowerment at the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Cliff returned to his writing life after leaving the Bureau, while continuing to stay actively engaged as a consultant, thought leader, and statesman for the movement. He is one of the only few credit union professionals who have received both a Herb Wegner and Annie Vamper Helping Hands awards. He is most proud of his 2019 induction into the African American Credit Union Hall of Fame.
