Our skilled team recently conducted a 138KV High-Pressure Fluid-Filled manhole leak repair. The InfraSource crew established a freeze on either end of the manhole, installed two split-sleeve welded repairs, installed an Atlas carbon fiber wrap on the splice sleeve, and replaced all auxiliary 2-inch piping and valves. The crew then applied a vacuum, installed new dielectric fluid, and ensured equalization of pressures before releasing the freezes. Finally, new tape coatings were applied to all newly installed pipes. Due to our team’s expertise and hard work, the project was successfully completed ahead of schedule! The foreman alerted management and the construction manager, and together they devised a repair plan. The next day, the crew safely fixed the cables without service disruption. Thanks to this crew, crisis was averted, and everyone involved stayed safe. 🔥Our crew discovered melted wires during a transfer operation. They acted swiftly, initiating a stop timeout to strategize. Skillfully, they sleeved the damaged conductor. Their attention to detail prevented further risks. These success stories underscore our dedication to maintaining a safety-first work environment. Last week, our very own Kara Price volunteered at an inspiring camp sponsored by the National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) in Baltimore. This unique camp is designed for middle and high school girls interested in the construction industry. Throughout the week, these young ladies embarked on field trips and learned valuable skills such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, marketing, accounting, business development, and much more. This camp is an incredible opportunity for young girls to explore a traditionally male-dominated industry and feel empowered to join it.
