Motivational theory is defined by four genetic traits, Energy, Dominance, Discipline, and Competing. ⚡ Energy determines how fast a person moves through life. If people move too slow, they will be less likely to seize opportunities. People who move too quickly tend to burn themselves out (and burn their direct reports out). 👑 Dominance defines one’s ability to control situations. Leaders lacking dominance tend to pull-back; they will not step-up when faced with challenging situations. 💪 Discipline defines one’s ability to set goals and hold themselves and others accountable. People having high discipline can be unrealistic about goals and expectations. Individuals with low discipline may not challenge others or set either goals or objectives. 🏅 People with extremely high competing scores tend to be aggressive competitors – they do not hide their intent or objectives. Individuals with lower competing scores are internal competitors, striving to improve themselves, though typically having little desire to beat others. In the workplace, having the ability to balance the four traits that drive motivational theory is the foundation for inspiring others. 🤝
