📢 We're excited to announce a collaborative effort with UNDP Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S), UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), GSG Impact & IFRS Foundation to launch Sustainability Disclosure and Management Hubs (SDMHs). This global initiative aims to enhance sustainability reporting and management practices. 🌍 By leveraging ISO's expertise and network in standards development, the #SDMHsProgramme will empower emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs) to enhance their sustainability performance. Diving into sustainability with ISO 20121 💦 Saturday marked the beginning of the aquatic events, where the world tunes in to see the fastest and most skilled swimmers battle it out for gold. This year, with the help of ISO 20121, it's the most sustainable Olympics yet. Why? 👉 The Aquatics Centre is the flagship project for all public buildings in France to use 50% wood or bio-materials. 👉 A giant 5,000m2 solar farm sits on the Aquatics Centre roof, which will provide enough energy for the entire building. 👉 The Seine has undergone major pollution remediation, to not only host the 10km freestyle and the triathlon but reopen for public swimming from 2025 onwards. 👉 Post Olympics, the 6,000-seat Aquatics Centre will be converted into a multi-sport hub for the local community, where currently one in two 11-year-olds do not know how to swim. ➡️ Learn more about the Event Sustainability Management Systems standard https://lnkd.in/eHe-7-sr #OlympicGames #Olympics #Sustainability #EventManagement #EventSustainability International Olympic Committee – IOC OECD - OCDE BSI Sustainability ISO Environmental Management

Yesterday, ISO’s Deputy Secretary-General Silvio Dulinsky, joined representatives from International Olympic Committee – IOC, Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 and OECD - OCDE in Paris to discuss how ISO 20121 sets the bar high and supports all event organizers in their quest for sustainability “gold”. In a world where #sustainability is paramount, ISO 20121 is an indispensable resource for integrating sustainability into the DNA of major events. Its flexible framework can be adapted to events of all types and sizes, from small gatherings to global sporting competitions, such as the #Olympics.  This International Standard leads the field in helping to reduce the carbon footprint of events, cut down on waste and encourage social inclusion and economic development. The involvement of the IOC and Paris 2024 in the reviewed edition – launched earlier this year – has enabled key improvements that align with their vision for the Paris Olympics: consideration of climate change; a focus on the legacy of big events; and the promotion of human rights and the rights of children. Like the Olympics themselves, ISO brings together experts in their field from around the globe to break boundaries in the pursuit of excellence.
