Our next #VisionMadePossible Visionary spotlight is on Kurt Kwakenat, a Research & Development technician supporting the contact lens pilot line. He has been making a difference at @Johnson & Johnson for 13 years. When Kurt transitioned from the Operations team to the R&D team, he developed a passion for enhancing efficiency by spearheading efforts that ensure all processes and trainings are comprehensive and accessible. Kurt loves helping the people he works with, who he considers family, which is why he derives so much meaning in supporting his teammates. Through his work, Kurt not only makes his coworkers' lives easier, but he also ensures that the vision products used by people worldwide are of the highest quality possible. When asked what it is about the vision industry that intrigues him so much, Kurt shared that as a grandfather, he couldn’t imagine not being able to see the smiling faces of his grandchildren anymore as he gets older. He shared that keeping the joy that vision brings people alive is one of the things he loves most about his job.

What an incredible experience at the Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) 2024 Summer Symposium! Over three days, we proudly stood alongside passionate women ophthalmologists, celebrating their successes, and exploring ways to elevate female leadership in the field. Our leaders Lori Tierney and Erin Powers, delivered powerful presentations that resonated deeply with attendees, sparking important conversations on how to create more inclusive and equitable opportunities in eye care. Their voices, along with those of other dynamic speakers, and participants, inspired many to envision a future where women are not only represented but are leading in every aspect of the profession. We are proud to be part of this transformative journey, empowering women in ophthalmology. The connections made, ideas shared, and the energy in the room were truly inspiring.
