This August, we celebrated wellness month across both houses with special events that highlighted all aspects of health. But wellness at Jonathan Club is a year-round priority, with daily fitness opportunities, holistic therapies like acupuncture and massage, and an in-house medical spa promoting longevity. Since 2023, thousands of honey bees have found a home in our rooftop hives at the Jonathan Town Club, pollinating both our urban garden and the surrounding neighborhood. We’re passionate about advancing the green city movement, fostering urban biodiversity and strengthening our community’s connection to nature - taking every chance to engage our members along the way. Members of the Jonathan Club Horological Society had an unforgettable evening with IWC Schaffhausen. Yousef Abgoon, IWC's Regional Manager, spoke with our members about the company's history and dedication to innovation. The group learned why American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones chose Schaffhausen, Switzerland to start his company. Yousef explained how IWC has made such large advances in developing perpetual calendar mechanisms, which are known for their accuracy and complexity. He highlighted watches like the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar and their newest Portugieser "Eternal" Calendar watch, which is famous for pushing the boundaries with its first secular perpetual calendar and its Double Moon phase display, which boasts an accuracy of 45 million years. Club members got to try on IWC's latest men's and women's watch collection. Yousef and the Rodeo Drive team spent time with each of the 90 members in attendance. Members asked questions about IWC's use of advanced materials in their watch cases and saw examples made from titanium and ceramics.  JCHS members will have another opportunity to learn more about IWC in October when one of their master watchmakers comes to Los Angeles. I recently had the honor of speaking at the Jonathan Club Breakfast Club about NIL and the future of college athletics. As you many of you know, the Jonathan Club played a pivotal role in the founding of UCLA and its members are prime movers in the building and running of Los Angeles, so it was a tremendous honor to be invited. One hundred years ago today, an enthusiastic crowd gathered on the corner of 6th and Figueroa streets in Los Angeles to watch history unfold: the groundbreaking of the Jonathan Town Club building. As such, today marks the beginning of our Downtown Clubhouse’s centennial year.⁠ ⁠ Watch acclaimed architect Fullerton Weaver of Schultze & Weaver, whose portfolio includes the prestigious Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and Biltmore Hotel, presenting Club President William P. Jeffries a golden spade etched with the clever inscription, “The shovel is mightier than the pen or sword.”

We had the exceptional opportunity of welcoming 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist and USA Track and Field Hall of Famer Steve Lewis and his family to the Jonathan Beach Club for an exclusive meet and greet with our members.
