Jones Lake Management has a history of excellence in fish production and lake management. Robert Lee Jones began managing the Gatliff Fish Hatchery (Williamsburg, KY) more than seventy years ago. In 1949, he set a world record for producing the most fingerling largemouth bass in a one-acre pond. His son, Albert Russell Jones, continued the tradition by serving as a fishery biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources. He was instrumental in introducing striped bass into Lake Cumberland, rainbow trout into Laurel Lake, and walleye into the Cumberland River above Cumberland Falls. His efforts have made Lake Cumberland one of the most productive freshwater lakes for striped bass in the world. Laurel Lake is one of the best rainbow trout lakes south of the Mason-Dixon line, and the upper Cumberland River is an excellent walleye fishery. His work has led to better fishing for thousands of anglers and advancements in the science of fish production and lake management. Today, the third generation continues to improve the business. Our successful lake management and fish production practices have catapulted us into being one of the fastest growing lake management companies in the United States. We focus on comprehensive pond and lake management to help our clients achieve their goals.

After much thought and consideration, Bryan Goldsby has decided to take a step back and retire from the Aqua Services' day-to-day operations. Aqua Services was founded in 1982 by Bryan's father, Terry Goldsby. The bulk of their initial work started with aquatic vegetation control on Lake Guntersville. Over the years, Aqua Services grew to become the premier provider of fisheries management and large-scale aquatic plant management in the southeastern United States. None of this would have been possible without Bryan and the countless hours he spent in the field and his work with a wide variety of clients ranging from private individuals to government entities and nuclear power plants. Not only was Bryan integral in the growth and success of Aqua Services, he has also been influential in the growth of our industry as a whole. His work with entities like the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Georgia Power have helped set new industry standards. Bryan has also held board positions with several professional industry societies including a term as the board president of the Midsouth Aquatic Plant Management Society. The work Bryan and his team have done, and the methods of treatment they developed, have continuously propelled the entire industry forward for the last 30 years. Thanks to his guidance and mentorship, Bryan leaves behind a team of knowledgeable and competent biologists ready to continue in his footsteps. Please join us in congratulating him on a long, successful career and wishing him all the best in his retirement. . Aqua Services, a Jones Fish Company

Exciting day at the Ohio State Fair! Our fish production team had the pleasure of stocking bluegill in the kids fishing pond in the Natural Resources Park area, hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. 🎣 Kids 14 and under can fish using cane poles and tackle provided by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Seeing the joy on kids' faces as they catch fish is what it's all about! Visit the fair and make some unforgettable memories! The Ohio State Fair continues through Sunday, August 4th.

Watershield (Brasenia schreberi) is an aquatic plant native to North America that thrives in ponds, lakes and slow moving streams. It's easily identified by small, oval shaped leaves with a gelatinous coating on the underside. Though native, it often forms dense patches and becomes a nuisance, limiting recreation. At this site, Watershield surrounded the dock and beach area, limiting access to the water. Our team applied targeted herbicides to control the Watershield and restore access to the water. Now our client can spend the rest of the summer enjoying their lake! #successstory #lakemanagement #pondmanagement #sciencedrivensolutions

Watershield is very common in southern Indiana. The beach area on this lake was littered with it. Three weeks after treatment and it cleared right up! #before #after Jones Lake Management

It's officially summer which means we've suspended fish deliveries until fall and will spend the next couple months focusing on cross training opportunities for our team members. This week's cross training had members of our fish delivery team out on the water for an electrofishing population survey. Electrofishing applies a direct current to the water column to stun fish. Our team collects the stunned fish from the surface with a net to identify, count, weigh and age members of the fish population. Once we're done collecting data, the fish are safely released back into the water. Using standardized techniques and the data collected, we can determine the relative abundance and growth rates of the fish, identify population dynamics and obtain a more accurate view of fish health and the ecosystem as a whole. From there we can develop a custom fish stocking and population management plan. #training #fisheriesmanagement #lakemanagement #largemouthbass #populationdynamics
