What's it to you? Scalia did coin this inquiry well. It is simple and straight to the point. The desire for something (anything) to be less available for others is simply not enough to show an injury in fact. And, standing is one of the very few issues that may be raised for the first time on appeal. Julie Shelton and I summarize the most important takeaways from recent SCOTUS and SCOTX opinions on standing. Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP #presentandreadyblog #kellyhart #appellatelaw

So today I'm speaking (via prerecorded video) to the Texas Bar's Advanced Civil Trial CLE about changes to charge-error in Texas, specifically Casteel error. That's a specific type of charge error that comes from submitting multiple theories in a single question. Recently, the Texas Supreme Court drastically changed what constitutes Casteel error and the resulting harm. Here's my CLE paper addressing the changes and some ideas about where I think we go from here.

Jody Sanders and I had a blast chatting with Dean Robert Ahdieh from Texas A&M University School of Law in the latest episode of the Texas Appellate Law Podcast. 🎙️ From New York to Texas, Dean Ahdieh has had a fascinating journey. He shared some incredible stories, including his time in Russia, and even gave some insights into the future of AI in law. 🤖 But what really got me was his take on the Aggie culture. Ever heard someone describe Texas A&M as a "cult"? Dean Ahdieh leaned into it, calling Aggie Nation a cult of "loyalty, excellence, and service." 😂 This episode is packed with valuable insights into legal education, the rise of Texas A&M Law School in the rankings, and a good dose of Texas humor. 🌟

I had an excellent opportunity to attend the Trade and Economic Development MIssion: Panama and the "Texas Triangle" hosted by USPA and ProPanamaOrg. Over the years, Panama and Texas have established a ”Strategic Partnership” which has blossomed in the last eight years since the expansion of the canal that has had a great impact in regions across Texas, making the access of goods to the regions of Texas easier and more competitive. This mission was a fantastic opportunity to explore new avenues for economic growth and build valuable & key connections. A lot of us came together to support this mission and wanted to thank and recognize them: Shahrzad (Sherry) Dowlatshahi, Gary Anderson (UT- McCombs), Kevin Keller, Carmen Gisela Vergara (ProPanama), Pedro Heilbron (CEO of COPA), Dr. Ricaurte (Catin) Vasquez (Administer of Panama Canal), Argelia Moreno (ACP), Niurka Montero (General Manager at Dell Panama), Janie Perelman, Joseph Chapa (Irving Chamber of Commerce), Lucia Ellis (ProPanama), Carlos Hoyos (Vice Ministro de Comercio Exterior), Robert T. Sakowitz, Vincent DiCosimo (Targa), Phyllis Saathoff and Ravi Singhania (Freeport)
