Happy Birthday Alcoholics Anonymous! 🎉 June 10th, marks the 89th anniversary of the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1935. The 12-Step program, crafted by co-founders Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson, has guided millions towards sobriety and recovery.

On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas – two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by Abraham Lincoln, which freed enslaved people in the Confederacy. Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) is traditionally celebrated with food, prayer, activities and time with friends and family. It is also a time of empowerment, a time to celebrate racial pride and Black resilience, and a time to condemn racial inequities in all areas of life, including mental health care.

June is a time to celebrate love, diversity, and the incredible strength of the LGBTQ+ community. Let's honor the journey towards equality, uplift voices, and spread kindness.

This Memorial Day we honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We also honor their families, including the families of our employees and patients at the Kirkbride Center.
