We make menswear-inspired apparel for women, trans and non-binary folks!

Über uns

Kirrin Finch is a conscientious clothing company, founded by Brooklyn-based couple Laura Moffat and Kelly Sanders Moffat, that will meet the growing demand for gender-defying fashion by creating menswear-inspired apparel designed to fit a range of women's bodies. The inspiration for the business was borne out of our own frustration at being unable to find clothes that match our personal style. As women who tend to gravitate towards button-up shirts and bow ties, we often find ourselves envying the clothes in the men's section, but are always frustrated because they are not designed to fit a woman's body. Although we don't come from a traditional fashion background, Kelly was a teacher in the NYC public school system and Laura has a Neuroscience PhD and is a former marketing consultant, we are no longer willing to settle for ill-fitting menswear or overly frilly womenswear. So, we decided to join the movement that rejects traditional stereotypes and gives people the freedom to be their true selves.

Queer culture has always been a driving force in shaping pop culture, and the rise of "Very Demure" on TikTok and Instagram is a perfect example of this influence. Transfemme influencer Jools Lebron’s viral trend captures the essence of queer creativity—blending irony, innovation, and subtext to redefine what it means to be "demure." As Lebron and other queer creators continue to push boundaries, their impact ripples across social media, setting the tone for mainstream trends. It’s a reminder that the heart of pop culture often beats to the rhythm set by queer voices. Check out the article by Them to explore more on this viral phenomenon. https://lnkd.in/eCQVarCA #QueerCulture #PopCulture #DemureAutumn #Transfemme #TransCreators #LGBTQIA #DiversityInMedia

For the longest time, I believed I didn’t have the right body type to pull off an androgynous look. I’ve always admired the style, but couldn’t find a way to incorporate androgynous pieces into my wardrobe. I tried a few times in high school and college, but the clothes weren’t working for me, and I made a classic mistake: I blamed my body, and not the clothes. Cut to me working at Kirrin Finch, a queer woman-owned business that makes “menswear”-inspired clothes for all bodies. Although I loved the concept, I still believed the clothes weren’t for me—until I finally tried them on. Oh, past Elaine. It wasn’t your body, it was the clothes! The experience of putting on a Kirrin Finch vest and blazer made my jaw hit the floor. I shouldn’t have been surprised: I believe in this brand’s mission, in their products’ quality, and the people behind the wheel. Why was I still thinking that androgynous style was beyond my reach? If you're doubting whether you can dress or present a certain way, this is your friendly reminder: Don’t limit yourself. You might just discover a style that makes you feel more like you than ever before. #AndrogynousFashion #KirrinFinch #EmployeeStory #CustomerSuccess #InclusiveFashion #Empowerment

In a time when political threats to queer rights loom large, celebrating queer marriage and joy has never been more vital. That's why we launched our Real Weddings series—to spotlight the beautiful stories of our customers who got married in our clothes and to celebrate love in all its forms. We're thrilled to introduce Laura (she/her) and Jill (she/her), an adventurous duo from Asheville, NC, who chose to tie the knot amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Olympic National Park in Washington. Accompanied by their furry friends, Idgie and Finn, they prioritized nature, simplicity, and each other for their special day. Laura and Jill wore our Kirrin Finch suits in Navy and Burgundy, finding the perfect blend of comfort and style. Their story reminds us of the importance of love, authenticity, and embracing the journey. Join us in celebrating queer joy and the beauty of love that knows no bounds. ❤️🏳️🌈 #QueerJoy #LoveIsLove #CustomerSuccess https://lnkd.in/guW3U6vS

The recent Olympics were a powerful celebration of courage and authenticity, with a record number of openly LGBTQIA+ athletes competing on the world stage. As a queer-owned clothing brand, we are incredibly proud of these athletes who, by living their truth, have broken down barriers and inspired millions. Their visibility sends a vital message: that being true to yourself is not just possible but powerful, even in the face of immense pressure and scrutiny. In this spirit, the Kirrin Finch team held their own 2024 Olympic competition this past week during their summer retreat! We won’t tell you who won, but we will tell you everyone had an amazing time! As we celebrate these trailblazers, we also look forward to a future where the international sports community continues to grow safer and more inclusive for queer individuals. We envision a world where even more athletes feel secure in embracing their identities without fear, and where their stories of pride and perseverance become the norm, not the exception. Together, let’s work toward a future where every athlete can compete as their authentic self, free from prejudice and discrimination. #QueerAthletes #OlympicsInclusion #SportsDiversity #EmployeeEngagement #TeamBuilding #InclusiveWorkplace #DiversityandInclusion

Kirrin Finch is an LGBTQ+-owned clothing company dedicated to making the shopping experience for women, nonbinary, and trans people more accessible. Co-founders Kelly and Laura Moffat started the brand after they had difficulty finding clothes for their wedding in 2014. Their collection transforms the fit of traditionally masculine items like button-up shirts, suits, and accessories, to be inclusive of all body types. Their dream? That all humans who wear Kirrin Finch feel confident that their style reflects who they are on the inside. “It is more than just putting on a shirt or a suit. It is an acknowledgement of who you are and how you want to express yourself to the world.” How do you celebrate Pride all year round?🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💙

It’s humbling to reflect on why “coming out of the closet” and being your authentic self in the public eye is so challenging. Everything from personal safety concerns, to being financially secure, to the surprisingly difficult task of finding affirming clothes, makes up the queer experience in 2024. That’s why this past June, we were so proud to launch a collaboration with Clandestina, a Cuban fashion brand co-founded by Leire Fernandez and Idania del Rio. Clandestina has been a beacon of hope and visibility in a landscape where being "hidden" was once necessary. As pioneers in both fashion and Cuba's LGBTQ+ community, they embody the power of authenticity and the impact of queer-owned businesses. #QueerVisibility #KirrinFinch #Clandestina #DapperScout #LGBTQBusiness

In Spanish, Clandestina means “hidden” or “underground.” I’ve had the honor of serving as Clandestina’s US Market Leader for the past year, and have seen first hand just how apropos the name for a brand that has been operating in a clandestine manner out of necessity. It wasn’t until 2021 that Cuba legalized the small business category, making Clandestina one of 11,000 newly minted private Cuban small businesses. This emerging sector now represents 1/3 of the Cuban economy. Beyond the economic/business impact, Clandestina also has tremendous social significance.  Its co-founders – Leire Fernandez (she/her) and Idania del Rio (she/her) – are regarded not only as pioneers in Cuban fashion, but as leaders in Cuba’s LGBTQ+ community. Since the inception of Clandestina, they have proudly navigated being queer, being women and being entrepreneurs in a male-dominated culture. Clandestina is a brand rooted in authenticity and social impact, and it’s through that lens that we engage in partnerships. One great example is how Clandestina has teamed up with Brooklyn-based LGBTQ+ suiting brand Kirrin Finch: creator of menswear-inspired apparel designed for a range of female and non-binary bodies. In honor of Pride Month, Leire and Idania were featured in Kirrin Finch’s community content series “Dapper Scout,” a celebration and collection of groundbreaking queer leaders. Their Dapper Scout feature spotlights how Clandestina is a brand committed to its values. Anchored in graphic design, each piece passes through our printing facilities and represents a larger dialogue with our community. With our community in mind, Kirrin Finch and Clandestina are rewarding our shared customers with double discounts during the month of June: 20% off Clandestina.co with the code BACHATADELNORTE 15% off KirrinFinch.com with the code 15Clandestina (first time customers only, redeemable through 6/24/24). Thank you to Kelly Moffat and the Kirrin Finch team for joining forces in celebration of Pride Month! Check out the Dapper Scout feature here: https://lnkd.in/ehNAkghV #PrideMonth #Pride #BrandPartnerships #SocialImpact #Clandestina

This is an oldie but a goodie. Two years ago, in partnership with Mirror Image Media, we created a series of videos interviewing the most fascinating people on the planet: our customers. If you think we’re laying it on a little thick, just watch, and we bet you right now you’ll get misty-eyed before the end. "If I were able to go back to my 16-year-old self, I would tell that person you're going to be confident, you're going to love yourself, it's all going to work out," Amanda says in the video. 🥲 We’re so honored to have been a small part of your journey, Amanda. We can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve next. #CustomerSpotlight #CustomerSuccessStory #InspiringJourney #WorkStyle https://lnkd.in/e7wxqm_s
