PRM Team Spotlight: Meet Shawna Bateman! We're excited to kick off our series highlighting the incredible members of our Partner Relationship Management (PRM) team, starting with the lovely Shawna Bateman! Why Koala? My heart and soul have always belonged to the veterinary community. I spent the majority of my career working in Internal Medicine, which I loved! My husband picked up a new job that required us to move across the country which then required me to reevaluate my career path. We didn’t have many veterinary clinics near our new home which then forced me to branch out and see what else I could do outside of clinic work. Then an opportunity to work for Koala presented itself and I couldn’t pass it up! Being able to still make an impact on the veterinary community by partnering with clinics and building relationships has been SO rewarding! What’s your favorite memory of working at Koala? My favorite memory while working for Koala has to be when I launched my first partner! Knowing the impact that Koala was about to make on this clinic was exhilarating and I couldn’t wait to do it again! Describe the PRM team in 3 words... Three words I would use to describe my team are hard-working, caring, and persistent. What do you love to do outside of work? When I’m not working you can catch me spending time with my husband and my 1 year old son! My hobbies include watching baseball, spending time with friends and family, crafting, and hot air ballooning! Do you have any pets of your own? I have an 11-year-old golden retriever mix named Miley. I adopted her from our local animal shelter when she was 4 months old. I had no business adopting her when I did but I don’t know what I would do without her. She has been through every big milestone in my life and was even my flower girl at my wedding! Any final notes? I am so honored to be part of the Koala PRM team. A birdie once told me “if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Thank you, Shawna, for your thoughtfulness and caring nature—both in this interview and day-to-day at Koala! After the loss of her dog, she received flowers from our team, despite living over a thousand miles away in a small town. This gesture brought tears to her eyes, especially as a single dog mom who had never received flowers before. Her heartfelt message emphasized how much our caring thoughts of sympathy meant to her during such a difficult time. Our team is deeply committed to providing exceptional service, and we're so grateful when our efforts are appreciated. Say hello to Kermit, our co-founder and head of product’s 2-year-old Boston Terrier! Kermit's favorite activities include snuggling, zooming around the house, and napping in front of his space heater. When it comes to treats, Kermit can't get enough of cheese, baby carrots, blueberries, and cantaloupe. Kermit is clearly a foodie, so his favorite part of being a member of the Koala community is getting his tasty Simparica Trio treat every month! Losing a pet is incredibly hard, and as fellow pet lovers, we deeply understand that pain. At Koala, we’re honored to stand by your side during these tough times. Recently, a member of our team shared a touching message about their own experience that truly moved us... Gizmo was our 19-year-old senior baby who triumphed through so many health challenges. When cancer took him, we were able to provide him with palliative care, thanks to Koala's support. His passing was peaceful, in his favorite spot in the garden. We are deeply sorry for Gizmo’s passing and are grateful to have been able to support him and his family. It's moments like these that remind us how important it is for our community to come together both in the good times and the difficult ones. 🐾
