Last week, Kovalus Separation Solutions marked a significant achievement by successfully overseeing the replacement of membranes in the second MBR membrane tank at the groundbreaking Aquapolo Project. These membranes, which have been in operation for an impressive 12 years, are a testament to the durability and superior performance of Kovalus technology. Remarkably, the other six membrane tanks, installed during the project's inception, continue to operate with the original membranes. Aquapolo, a pioneering initiative in industrial water reuse, has been a cornerstone of sustainable operations since 2012. With an installed capacity to deliver 650 liters per second of high-quality treated water to companies in the Capuava Petrochemical Complex (Mauá/SP), Aquapolo is a benchmark in the industry. Its treatment system, featuring PURON® hollow fiber membranes followed by a Reverse Osmosis process, ensures the delivery of top-tier water quality to the complex’s cooling towers and fire safety systems. The MBR at Aquapolo is equipped with 64 PURON® PSH membrane modules, boasting a total of 96,000 m² of UF membrane area distributed across eight membrane tanks. Despite over a decade of continuous operation, 75% of the original membranes are still in service, underscoring the unparalleled quality of PURON® products. This success is further amplified by our team's comprehensive training and monitoring, which has empowered Aquapolo’s operations team to maintain full control over the process. Coupled with state-of-the-art maintenance practices, this project is set to continue breaking operational records and setting new industry standards.

  • Many products with aluminum components, especially consumer products, require a high-quality aesthetic finish. This is achieved through aluminum anodizing, often followed by a phosphoric acid bright finish process. Our Eco-Tec phosphoric acid recovery system, or DPU , enables the recovery and recycling of phosphoric acid used in the bright finish process. This reduces acid costs from the operation while providing greater process sustainability - a win-win! #MetalsFinishing #IonExchange
