The district focus is on preparing students for a rapidly changing world through goals of Engagement, Equity for All, Inclusion, Safety, MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Lakeland Central School District remains at the forefront of educational excellence, continuing to shape future leaders, innovators, and community members who will change our world. Altogether, there are eight schools in the Lakeland Central School District: five elementary (Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson in Yorktown Heights, George Washington and Van Cortlandtville in Mohegan Lake, Lincoln-Titus in Crompond); one middle school (Lakeland Copper Beech in Yorktown Heights), and two high schools (Lakeland in Shrub Oak and Walter Panas in Cortlandt Manor). At the heart of Lakeland’s educational success is a diverse array of programs that cater to students of all backgrounds and abilities. The district places a strong emphasis on offering a well-rounded education, with a rich curriculum and a wide range of extracurricular activities. Lakeland’s educators are known for their dedication to nurturing the intellectual curiosity of their students, and fostering a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
