Dr. Pete Dillion, staff psychologist and Director of Family Therapy at the Lindner Center of HOPE, shares a powerful message of hope for those who are struggling: "I’ve been working as a therapist for over 25 years because I hate bullies. The issues that bring most people to therapy are bullies. They live in your head and tell lies. The lies are not even especially convincing lies, in fact many are ridiculous, except that the bullies cheat. While they whisper the lie in your head, they fill your veins with cortisol and adrenaline so that it feels like they MUST be true. Especially if it goes on for months or years. So what happens in therapy is you learn to recognize and counter the bully’s tricks. You learn to talk back to the lies, and you learn ways to cleanse those false-alarm stress chemicals from your body. Some of the most common lies are that you are alone and it’ll never get better. Don’t believe it. I see people take on the bullies every day and there are plenty of reasons for hope." We are deeply grateful to have Dr. Dillion on our team, helping patients silence the bullies in their minds and rediscover a life filled with hope and happiness. #StaffSpotlight #StaffAppreciation #MeettheTeam #HealthcarePros
