🔍 Unveiling the #Legends 2024 Consumer Zero Party Data Insights Report! We've conducted an in-depth survey to understand consumer attitudes towards sharing personal data in the travel industry. Our findings reveal intriguing trends and preferences that can shape the future of #dataprivacy and consumer interaction. Key Highlights: ⚡️83% of consumers are willing to share their data with a brand when offered incentives like discounts, rewards, and personalized recommendations. ✈️ Top Incentives: Discounts on flights and hotels, rewards from trusted travel brands and personalized travel profiles. 🥁 74% of respondents desire real-time personalization in travel recommendations. ↔️ Multiple Methods of Data Sharing: Consumers are comfortable sharing data across various methods, with 48% willing to share calendar data, 47% sharing email data and 46% sharing manually collected data. ⚡️Frequency of Data Sharing: On average, participants are willing to share their data across 2+ methods, indicating a preference for diverse data collection approaches. ✈️ Travel Frequency: Almost half of the respondents travel monthly, with younger demographics (GenZ and Millennials) having the highest travel frequency. 💰 Spending Habits: A significant portion of respondents spend more than $5,000 per year on travel, with 32.3% spending between $5,000-$10,000 and 30.3% spending between $10,000-$20,000. 🏖️ Motivations for Travel: The majority (75%) of participants travel for leisure, with other popular reasons including adventure, cultural experiences, family visits, business trips and events/festivals. 🌋 Personalization Impact: Real-time personalization affects decisions across all age groups, with 85% of GenZ, 65% of Millennials and 62% of GenX showing a strong preference for personalized travel recommendations. 7 months since Legends was named Global StartUp of the Year at Phocuswright US it was awesome to be at Phocuswright Europe this week. My top 4 themes below were consistent across the sessions and many conversations... 👩🔧 Personalization - a priority for many including incumbents like Rob Francis CTO of Booking.com discussing intent optimization and Greg Schulze CCO of Expedia Group on “making supply more relevant” with clear recognition of the need to know customers better to unlock better conversion, revenue and the experience that today's traveler wants ⚡ Data & AI - data management challenge of our industry at scale given siloes, regulation and lack of intraoperability was highlighted by many including Rob Francis in the technology roundtable. Along with recognition that “therein lies the opportunity!” 👀 Regulation & Privacy - Identity Wallets, AI Law and privacy regulation. Europe has been a first mover in all of these and many global companies may not be ready. This creates significant opportunity for 1) those that are and 2) those innovating solutions around it 🤝 Partnership for Innovation - ability to experiment into things and have flexibility to pivot as needed is key. Role for startups to catalyze innovation but need the right funding partners and brands need accountable teams able to engage Less themes and more personal realizations: 🌎 Representation from all regions, panel hosted by Siew Hoon Yeoh and passionate conversations about adventure all over the world made me fall in love again with the global nature of travel and it's people 🌶 Wandering local streets (even in the rain) to a trusted restaurant recommendation aligned to your tastes is always worth it. In the latest McKinsey & Company report, #luxurytravel is set to outpace other segments, driven by a diverse wealth range and preferences.
