Myth 🚫: Gen Z isn’t thinking about fertility Fact ✅: Gen Z Is the first generation to experience wide-spread fertility anxiety According to a survey by HRC Fertility, 3 in 5 members of Gen Z are concerned about their future fertility. Generation Z includes ages 12 to 27, and although much of this generation might seem young to be worrying about their fertility… Being proactive could actually help with fertility in the long run. Dr. Nicole Bell, MD shared her thoughts as part of an article by Essence (l!nked below), “I find this generation of young women to be a lot more proactive in terms of wanting to seize anything that could possibly impede them from becoming pregnant such as PCOS or concerns with fibroids or endometriosis. A friend of Lotus recently went through the process of getting her eggs frozen. She was kind enough to share her actual receipts from the process which included the preparation, retrieval, medications and yearly egg storage fees. With the high price tag and ongoing costs, we know that $15K+ is out of reach for most individuals today. The cost of fertility treatment is out of reach for many families. Some, like Jennifer Arenas Cárdenas, have even started taking part time positions at companies like Starbucks, Target, Walmart and Amazon to take advantage of the fertility benefits they offer. While it’s great that these companies are offering some benefits, couples shouldn’t have to work part time jobs to receive the fertility care they need “Infertility is a medical diagnosis, this should absolutely be covered by insurance companies” says Jennifer.
