Affordable Housing Policy News: LIIF coordinated with the Capital Magnet Fund (CMF) Coalition on comments to the revised CMF Interim rule (read comment letter @ https://lnkd.in/g5ARGTgq). The interim rule proposes revisions to definitions and program requirements, revisions to project-level requirements, updates to address business practices in affordable housing and the consolidation of economic development activities under a new section for a more comprehensive articulation of such criteria. The letter provides recommendations the coalition believes will make the CMF program more accessible to affordable housing providers. This includes proposed actions that are a mixture of regulatory and sub-regulatory practices. #CapitalMagnetFund #CMF #CDFI #affordablehousing #policy

This week, Shelly Masur, MPH, EdD, VP of State Advisory and Policy, along with Assemblymember Corey Jackson, DSW, MSW, attended a press conference for the launch of First 5 California's campaign "Raise CA Strong.” The initiative aims to boost public support for greater access to affordable #childcare for all California families. With an emphasis on advancing equity in early childhood education, the campaign will focus on ways to make investments in child care that help the economy. During #NationalBlackBusinessMonth, LIIF celebrates #affordablehousing #developers, such as Adenah Bayoh, and our 16 other Black Developer Capital Initiative (BDCI) Line of Credit recipients. We are honored to invest in you and your communities, with 42 projects so far. Under the BDCI product, we changed our underwriting requirement to center on borrowers’ successful track records in developing affordable housing rather than their assets. To assist Multnomah County in reaching its 2030 goal of universal preschool, LIIF entered into the new #childcare collaborative called Build Up Oregon. Our initial Preschool for All Facilities Fund (PFF) deal was the Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization (CAIRO) Early Learning Center project. Capital comprised $1.1million in grants and approximately $3 million in loans from the Multnomah County Preschool for All Fund. Phase 1 will add 40 spaces/Phase 2 will add 60. LIIF is proud to have played a key role in preserving affordable housing in Edgewood, Maryland, through a recent $10.98 million loan for Enterprise Community Partners's community development division’s financing of Woodbridge Commons. The 132-unit LIHTC property is located in a high-need area of Harford County where demand for affordable housing is growing. Our financing helped secure long-term affordability, ensuring that families in the area continue to have access to quality housing.
