MARTA trains will temporarily skip stop Brookhaven Station from Oct. 7 to Nov. 15 so construction crews can replace the 40-year-old pavers on the rail station platform. Rail service on the Gold Line will operate as scheduled, but trains will not stop at Brookhaven Station. “The pavers on the platform at Brookhaven are in poor condition. We’ve repaired them as best we can over the years but it’s time to replace them before it becomes a safety hazard for our customers and creates accessibility challenges getting on and off the train,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. Take MARTA to Decatur Station Saturday, Aug. 24 to attend the unveiling of a statue honoring Congressman John Lewis on the DeKalb County courthouse lawn. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Congressman Lewis was a Civil Rights icon, original Freedom Rider, and longtime public transit and MARTA advocate.

MARTA has completed the installation of 1,000 new bus stop amenities throughout its service area, ensuring 70 percent of customers now have a sheltered space in which to wait for their bus. The installations consist of bus shelters, standalone benches, and other seating options, and include trash cans and signs with service information at stops in the City of Atlanta, and Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton Counties.
