MEC's industrial solar teams have enjoyed some friendly competition this summer. The winning project team of a leadership-created, safety-focused competition would receive a visit from the boot van and could select a brand-new pair of boots. The winning team was recently able to enjoy the reward for their hard work. As our people picked out their new boots, some said, "Within my twenty years of doing this, I've never seen something quite like this." It's one small way we thank our craft and staff employees for always prioritizing safety.

Today, and every day, we're proud to recognize our amazing MEC interns! This summer, we have approximately 30 interns working on our projects and in our offices across North America. From engineering, construction management and safety to finance and more, these talented early-career professionals are making a real impact — problem solving, innovating and shaping the future of our industry. MEC Intern Isaiah Chavelas said this about his experience: "Throughout my internship with Mass. Electric Construction Co., I have discovered that every challenge is an opportunity to innovate and grow. I found this internship fulfilling because it has exposed me to hands-on experience and real-world problem solving that has ignited a passion for engineering.” #NationalInternDay

MEC has been at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution since the 1990s. The Dry Bridge Solar Farm is just one example of our capabilities in the solar industry. MEC completed all racking installation and electrical scope, including cable pulling, and terminations, and setting more than 116,000 modules with more than 2,552,000 linear feed of string wire. This is our favorite achievement to celebrate! In 2023, Mass Electric Construction worked an entire year without a recordable injury. In the photos below, you’ll see that some of our leadership recently accepted both District Goose Eggs and Project Goose Eggs for their teams, which are company awards that recognizes groups and projects for working safely with zero recordables. Today kicks off Construction Safety Week across our industry. At MEC, nothing is more important than the safety of our team and surrounding communities. On project sites, crews often face situations where it’s important to speak up and use their voices. Our Conversation Card helps make these real-world conversations happen by providing guidance on how to speak up when it’s necessary. Listening to each other can encourage open communication within the crew, increase productivity, connect project leadership and improve the overall project culture. Most importantly, when we value everyone’s voice, we create a safer work environment. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

Check out the recent renovations to our office in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. The open-concept areas are great for collaboration and feature many amenities for our employees and visitors, including entertainment areas, common spaces with coffee bars, large conference rooms and state-of-the-art technology throughout. We appreciate everyone’s effort to help complete this transformation in just 28 weeks!
