    August is Child Support Awareness Month! This year, the child support program marks 49 years as the federal Social Security Act’s Title IV-D anti-poverty program. Maximus has been serving the IV-D community for most of those years, and our decades of experience have taught us that there is one constant factor in child support work. It's a single word, one that can be positive or negative. And it impacts everyone in their own way. That word is change! The IV-D program is now on the horizon of a transformation that's been building for decades. Policy and funding changes are paving the way for child support to become a reliable economic support program, improving the stability of both the fathers and families the program serves. What a difference that can make in children's lives on many levels. Everyone knows the impact that poverty has on those the child support program serves. You see it in your work every day. Improving the stability of the whole family has clear, documented, direct, and residual benefits — not just for families and the overextended child welfare system, but for society. Whether advancing equity and changing the culture; ensuring right-sized orders; braiding funding; integrating processes, automation, and data; implementing new case management systems; incorporating employment services and fatherhood programs; and perhaps most importantly, improving how the IV-D program engages as a community, navigating the complexities of this change is not easy! As we celebrate five decades of hard work this month, the child support program will harness that energy to propel itself into the decades ahead — forging a new path where our support of family stability is the vehicle speeding us toward co-parenting! #ChildSupport #MaximusInsights
