Our daughter, having just completed her PhD in Equity and Diversity in Special Education has accepted a position as an Assistant Teaching Professor at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Her school is starting an inclusive post-secondary education program for adults with intellectual disabilities (IDD). She will be developing curriculum along with teaching duties.

As we close out Q1 2024, our firm has not seen a single pullback in searches for attorneys from our clients. We do see clients scrutinizing candidates with a higher degree of assessment – education, work experience, professional goals, and EQ. Perhaps this is a sign of overall market anxiety stemming from layoffs in parts of the legal sector, slowing of funding to early stage companies and upcoming national elections.
As we are well into Q1 2024, here are a few reflections for attorneys: · Corporate lawyer opportunities appear to be making a moderate comeback, especially in the ECVC space. There are a number of openings in the Bay Area, Southern California, Denver, and Salt Lake City. · Data privacy, cyber security, AI, and renewable energy appear to be areas of focus for 2024 as firms grow out their practice groups. · Lateral hiring peaked in August 2023 before tailing off at the end of the year. There appears to be an uptick in lateral associate and partner hiring. Note this may be a seasonality factor which will need to be assessed over the next few quarters.

Our client is a highly successful entrepreneurial real estate investment and development company.
