Following up on my MassDevice news of Avail Medsystems' tech being sold, I had a good conversation with the buyer's CEO — Josh DeFonzo at Mendaera, Inc. — about what his medical robotics startup has planned now that they're coming out of stealth mode and headed toward regulatory review. I have had the pleasure of working with Josh DeFonzo and his amazing team for some time now and I've been astounded by the work they are doing. With this partnership, Mendaera, Inc. and Butterfly Network, Inc. are creating a robotic system to improve precision and consistency for a broad range of image-guided, needle-based interventions. This new category of robotics will increase access to high quality interventional treatment, ultimately aiming to streamline patient care within a healthcare system burdened by workforce shortages and burnout.
