Metroparks Toledo is a regional system of premier natural, historical and cultural public park lands. A public agency serving Lucas County, Metroparks maintains parks and conservation areas totaling over 12,000 acres. MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Metroparks Toledo is to conserve the region’s natural resources by creating, developing, improving, protecting, and promoting clean, safe, and natural parks and open spaces for the benefit, enjoyment, education, and general welfare of the public. The Metroparks system includes: On the Maumee River: -Farnsworth -Bend View -Providence -Side Cut -Middlegrounds In the Rare Oak Openings Region: -Oak Openings Preserve -Secor -Wildwood Preserve -Oak Openings Greenway (in development) -Wiregrass Lake -Westwinds In the City of Toledo: -Swan Creek Preserve -Middlegrounds -Toledo Botanical Garden (affiliate) In the Great Black Swamp -Pearson -Howard Farms (future park) Hike/Bike Trails: -University/Parks Trail -Wabash Cannonball Trail -Towpath Trail (connecting Farnsworth, Bend View and Providence) -Chessie Circle Trail Also part of the Metroparks: -Fallen Timbers Battlefield, Fallen Timbers Monument and Fort Miamis (Maumee) -Blue Creek Conservation Area (Whitehouse) Attractions: -Manor House (Wildwood) -National Center for Nature Photography (Secor) -The Canal Experience (Providence) -Johlin Cabin (Pearson) -Oak Grove School (Wildwood)
