The Leaders in Maritime Training and Simulation™

Über uns

MITAGS is a world-renowned maritime training and simulation center with locations in Baltimore and Seattle. We've been providing high-quality maritime training programs for military and commercial mariners for well over thirty years. Today, over one hundred and fifty different courses are available for mariners from around the globe. In addition, MITAGS is one of the few schools in the United States that offers all of the STCW training courses that are necessary to progress from Ordinary Seafarer to Unlimited Master. The origin of MITAGS can be traced back to the establishment of the Maritime Advancement, Training, Education, and Safety (MATES) Program. The MATES Program is a non-profit Trust that was created in 1968 by major Steamship Lines and the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots (IOMM&P). The original mission of the MATES Program ("to enhance the professionalism of mariners") continues to this day.

It's Weather Wednesday! MITAGS is proud to be a NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador bit.ly/WRNA. National Weather Service forecast products can tell you a lot about what is expected to happen with a storm, including the storm’s paths, rainfall amounts, wind speeds, and more. There is a lot of information available days ahead of a storm, and it is important to understand what it means. Learn more https://lnkd.in/eVFGgSRi

Spending the day at MITAGS with colleagues of mine, interviewing candidates for the MITAGS/WSF Maritime Apprenticeship Scholarship Opportunity. Working for an employer like Washington State Department of Transportation Washington State Ferries who ensures they move barriers and open doors for those underserved makes me SO proud 🤩 Thanks to partnerships with organizations like MITAGS, I rest easy knowing my loved ones can have opportunities like this someday too! Special thanks to Dakota Pedersen for leading the way with this program and inviting me to participate.

A meteorologist with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the late 1800s, Finley was tasked with investigating tornadoes and developing methods of forecasting them. Today is National Nonprofit Day! MITAGS community initiatives underscore our commitment, coast to coast, to be an innovative partner in maritime training & research. At MITAGS East, we're thrilled to highlight our commitment to students interested in STEM. In 2024, in partnership with the International Masters, Mates & Pilots (MM&P), the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD), Vane Brothers, the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), St. Ignatius Academy in Baltimore, Maryland Pilots, and more, we have already welcomed over 300 students. Visits to our East Coast campus include rides on our world-class ship simulators, knot tying, safety training, and hands-on experiences that inspire the next generation of maritime professionals. MITAGS West works closely with Seattle Jobs Initiative, Maritime High School, Duwamish Green Valley Job Corp, Evergreen Goodwill’s Maritime Program, Tacoma Public Schools Tidewater Program, and Sea Potential. We offer scholarships for Sea Sisters and Fisherman’s Memorial Fund. Our team in Seattle participates in a variety of community events that include safety training and demonstrations for Washington State Department of Labor, Industry Safety Days, and Seattle Fisherman’s Safety Day. In Linthicum Heights, MD, the Maritime Conference Center (MCC) operates our conference facilities and hotel. Revenue helps to support our nonprofit mission.
