Today, 28 Inside Dayton Interns presented their final projects and recommendations to MCESC's Business Advisory Council. Members of the council, guests, and media got to hear firsthand what these young people think about complex topics that exist in our society today - like how to balance tech use with mental wellness, how companies can provide career opportunities to youth, and why learning how to use AI responsibly is important; they want to be well prepared when they join the workforce! Today, at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Literacy Academy, MCESC's Kelsi Edrington discussed how to use adult implementation data to improve literacy instruction in grades 6-12 with school administrators and literacy coaches from across the state. Literacy Academy is an annual event that aims to raise literacy achievement in Ohio by providing professional development opportunities for educators. Meet our 2024 Inside Dayton Fellows, Ben O'Keefe, Demi Sevenoff, and Baraa A.! They are pictured here with the Former Ohio Governor, Robert Taft who met with our fellows and interns this week to discuss leadership, public service, and the importance of being involved in your community. The Inside Dayton Program is focused on helping these college and high school students learn more about themselves and challenge the status quo. Incorporating themselves into Dayton's workforce strategy and using their voices to foster change are key facets of the program.
