DEFEND - DEVELOP - DECOLONIZE

Über uns

Based out of the beautiful Black Hills on Oceti Sakowin Territory, NDN Collective provides the most ambitious systemic approach to empowering Indigenous communities in the history of philanthropy and impact investing. The change, liberation, and justice we seek requires the lived experiences and leadership of Indigenous Peoples, and the significant redistribution of resources by those currently overseeing the concentration of wealth. Our core programming consists of grantmaking, narrative amplification, predevelopment support, and low-interest investments, community organizing, and power building. Mission Build the collective power of Indigenous Peoples, communities, and Nations to exercise our inherent right to self-determination, while fostering a world that is built on a foundation of justice and equity for all people and Mother Earth.

In today's fast paced digital landscape, mastering Tactical Media isn't just important—it's absolutely vital for amplifying our voices and taking control of our narratives. At NDN Action Camp, we are fiercely dedicated to equipping Indigenous leaders with the skills to navigate and dominate media platforms. We’re transforming every story told into a robust weapon for advocacy and change. Our participants learn to create bold, compelling digital content that cuts through the noise and demands attention. We delve deep into the strategies needed for impactful social media campaigns that don’t just engage, but ignite movements. This isn’t just about sharing our stories; it’s about seizing the narrative and influencing public discourse to ensure that Indigenous voices are not just included but lead the conversation on our lands. But we can’t do this alone. We need your support to fuel this crucial work. By donating today, you are not just contributing to a cause; you are empowering Indigenous communities to reclaim our truths and inspire action in a world that often tries to silence and eradicate us. Throughout the month, we'll be calling on our community to support Indigenous leadership and empowerment by donating to NDN Collective. We will be sharing updates on our progress towards our ambitious $20,000 goal on our Instagram stories. Follow us and stay updated! Thank you for your continued support and for being a vital part of this community. Together, we can support the future of Indigenous leadership training and make a lasting impact! “It is clear the Democratic party expects Indigenous people and other systemically oppressed peoples to rally behind them without question – which is a huge mistake,” said Janene Yazzie, Director of Policy and Advocacy at NDN Collective. “Democrats are simultaneously pouring billions of dollars into the presidential campaign and, as of this week, an additional $26.5 billion into the genocide in Gaza – all while ignoring issues their base actually cares about.” “We know there are people in the Democratic Party who have worked for decades to make a genuine change for their communities and for this country. We are appealing to them to recognize this is not a time for politics as usual – but to stand courageously and bravely in protection of human rights here and abroad. If they want to win, Democrats need to distinguish themselves by taking a strong stance for all humanity, and put up a platform rooted in humanity.” READ THE FULL PRESS RELEASE: https://lnkd.in/ga-CGxVh

This year we distributed over 600 backpacks filled with school supplies and NDN swag to Indigenous students in Rapid City, SD. With support from NDN Collective Local Organizers, Know your Rights, Oaye Luta Okolakiciye (OLO), Oceti Sakowin Community Academy, Black Hills Center for American Indian Health, Rural America Initiatives, He Sapa Otipi, and Western SD Community Action  we celebrated our youth.  As children received their backpacks, they were reminded of their worth, of the bright future that lies ahead, and the power we have when we stand together as we nurture dreams and foster hope!  Read more about this exciting community event and see more pics of inspired Native youth in our latest blog: https://ndnco.cc/bpg24 Be sure to watch our latest episode of NDN Live for a full recap of the 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway. On the third night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), as MN Gov. Tim Walz accepted the Vice-President nomination, a sit-in was held by the Uncommitted Delegates National Movement* just outside the entrance of the United Center. Uncommitted delegates submitted a request for a speaker such as Dr. Haj-Hassan, or US State Representatives Abdelnasser Rashid (IL) or Ruwa Romman (GA) on the main stage at the DNC about the ongoing genocide in Gaza where more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, 2023, most being women and children according to the health ministry. This morning, the request for a speaker about the genocide was denied. Uncommitted delegates never intended to hold a sit-in. However, they felt the need to escalate in accordance with the level of urgency needed as the Biden-Harris administration approved yet another $20 BILLION in military and financial aid to Israel just one week ago. Shortly after Michigan’s uncommitted delegate Abbas Alawieh’s statement, US Representative Ilhan Omar (MN) joined in support of the sit-in. Rep. Omar stated that she also submitted a request to the Chairman of the DNC in addition to Kamala Harris. Rep. Omar’s request for a speaker along with the uncommitted delegates and other House Representatives’ were also denied. The DNC is being held upon the traditional homelands of the Council of Three Fires (Chicago, IL) where the largest Palestinian community in the country resides. All week, we have seen members of the Democratic party and their supporters shame those who demand an end to Israel’s genocide. For those watching the DNC this week, know that there are those on the outside demanding the end of the genocide on Gaza, Black reparations, freedom for political prisoners, Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination, and LANDBACK— all of these intersectional demands are non-negotiable to building a livable world. *Uncommitted delegates are party delegates that were chosen after uncommitted votes caught momentum in the Democratic state primaries in protest of the genocide in Gaza. 🏙 Not in Chicago? “And so we come here in the convergence of all of these different movements to remind the Democratic Party that you don’t automatically get our votes.” - Nick Tilsen, NDN Collective, President and CEO NDN Collective is on the ground at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on the traditional lands of the Council of the Three Fires, Ho'Chunk, Meskwaki, Sauk, and Miami Nations [Chicago, IL]. At every event we attend at the DNC and GNC (Genocidal National Convention), we are demanding LANDBACK, reparations for our Black relatives, the Executive Clemency of Leonard Peltier, an end to the genocide of our Palestinian relatives, and Stop Cop Cities everywhere. We know that all of these issues are interconnected and it is by addressing them all (and more) that we will attain collective liberation for all people and Mother Earth. 🏙 Not in Chicago?
