New West End Company

This morning’s Sustainable City Charter Summer showcase – hosted by the London Property Alliance (CPA & WPA) and Westminster City Council - was a fantastic opportunity to hear how businesses across Westminster are rising to the Net Zero challenge.   The breakfast seminar was opened by Councillor Ryan Jude, who spoke about the power of coordinated public-private action. It was followed by an insightful panel discussion which featured New West End Company members John Davies, Head of Sustainability at Derwent London, and Rosa Han, Associate Director Programme Management at The Portman Estate, sitting alongside spokespeople from Landsec, Paddington Arts, Makerversity and L Saha. Although the actions being taken by each company varied – from gamifying energy reduction, to turning to ancient design principles – each panellist was unified by their belief that even the smallest of sustainable changes can have a huge impact.   Find out more about the Sustainable City Charter and how to become a signatory here: https://lnkd.in/e2DCe-4a

With the election just days away, our Chief Executive, Dee Corsi, has written in the Evening Standard about the fundamental need to give the business community a seat at the table.   The op-ed builds on the recent launch of our West End Manifesto for Growth, in which we outlined our members’ most pressing priorities for any future Government: unlocking economic growth, ensuring our high streets are safe and accessible, and reforming the rigid planning system.   Dee Corsi commented, “This election is a rare opportunity to start afresh and set the tone for how businesses and Government can work together to deliver for Britain. We are pleased to announce that Nathan Parsad-Wyatt will be joining New West End Company as Director of Communications & Campaigns from Monday 15 July.   Nathan will work directly with our Chief Executive, Dee Corsi, to deliver a strategic communications programme, and spearhead public affairs and consumer marketing initiatives throughout the West End. 

Excellent evening spent at The BoTree Hotel on Wednesday for our Members Summer Social event. It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces attend as well as some new additions who have recently joined our West End community. Last week we hosted a remarkable evening of true storytelling from our LGBTQIA+ community who shared their stories of self discovery, resilience and pride as part of PROUD West End. A celebration of voice and representation, Oxford Street's PROUD West End, in collaboration with Grosvenor and Heard Storytelling, is a free to visit outdoor audio-visual exhibition championing the stories of the LGBTQIA+ community within London's West End. Featuring a gallery of large-scale ‘living portraits’ PROUD West End is now showing in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair for the next 4 weeks.   Find out more information on the exhibition here: https://lnkd.in/ecd9NARs

Wonderful to co-host this event with London Property Alliance (CPA & WPA) earlier this week. It was a fruitful discussion on the future of the West End and the importance of an improved public realm in enhancing the experience of a destination not only for visitors, but for workers and residents alike.
