Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week's grand opening for our newest residential treatment facility in Southeast Portland, Magnolia House! We are grateful for Oregon Health Authority's partnership in bringing this project to fruition. 🏡 We are incredibly thankful for the support from community leaders to broaden care for those who need it most. "In order for this work to be successful, we must address the critical points throughout our systems where  we know people are falling through the cracks, and we have to do that together," said Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson. Oregon State Representative Hoa H Nguyen also gave remarks, adding, "When we broaden access to care for the most vulnerable members in our community, all of us win." We agree. This 11-bed facility will offer 24/7 care to residents exiting acute care settings, including Oregon State Hospital. Residents are set to begin moving in this month. We are also deeply appreciative of GSI Builders, Inc. and RESOLVE Architecture + Planning for creating a beautiful space where future residents will feel at home. Stanley remembers coming to our peer program NorthStar Clubhouse for the first time. "I came here looking for something and nothing had seemed to fit [before NorthStar]." A carpenter by trade, Stanley could no longer stand for long periods of time. "I really got involved with the Membership Unit," Stanley remembers. "Everyone who walks through that door needs to be acknowledged as a person." You may see Stanley welcoming people from the front desk when you come through NorthStar's doors! On Friday we celebrated our All-Staff Summer Appreciation event at Oaks Amusement Park! Our staff and their families from across the agency gathered to connect over food, games, raffles, and...magic!🎩🪄 Mark the Magician from All American Magic provided entertainment as we celebrated another wonderful year with an incredible team who is beyond magical. Let's talk about mental health in the workplace. Just under half of New Narrative's workforce reported lived experience with mental health conditions in our 2023 survey. Australian weather forecaster Nate Byrne's public panic attack experience can happen to anyone, and we appreciate his desire to shed light on the impacts of #MentalHealth in our professional lives. Adopting an approach based in curiosity and compassion helped Nate to find the tools he needed to adapt. "...talking about my anxiety and seeking treatment mean that it's something I can live with and manage," he wrote in his 2022 article mentioned in the video below.

Our in-house catering crew is second to none. Rain or shine, they put in the work to ensure meals and supplies are delivered to almost all of our 40+ sites across the region! Every week they continue building positive relationships with residents and program staff alike. 🥙#FunFact: in one year alone, they delivered around 130,000 meals to sites!
