We're not in Kansas anymore 🌪 Las week, our Rocky Mountain crew clicked their ruby-red steel toes to finish up our project for a private windfarm client in the Sunflower State 🌻 We performed a specialized void/pressure grouting scope of work at two turbines at the site to combat voids in the geology. Each site involved drilling primary and secondary holes, totaling approximately 1,540 linear feet with hole depths ranging from 40 to 60 feet. Overall the work helped improve the stability of the structures so that they can effectively harness that wind power that comes from somewhere over the rainbow 🌈 **Also available for the remediation of yellow brick roads and various Emerald City structures.** #BuildOnUs #windpower #Kansas #noplacelikehome #voidgrouting #notinkansasanymore

Today, the #ThrowbackThursday time machine takes us to the City by the Bay - San Francisco - and one of the most intricate grouting operations we've ever performed in one of the largest cities in the country. Picture it: San Francisco was building it's first new subway line in four decades. The new Central Subway is a 1.7-mile extension of the Third Street light rail line, known as the T-Third, includes one surface station and three underground stations. Twin, 1.6-mile-long bored tunnels were completed in April 2015 in advance of the three underground stations using two, 20.6-foot diameter tunnel boring machines. To make sure that the buildings along the TBM's route experienced little-to-no settlement, we set up shop inside a deep shaft with a small drill rig and drilled an intricate pattern of horizontal holes into the ground below the buildings. We then grouted the ground between the buildings and the TBM to compensate for any potential movement while continuously monitoring the buildings' settlement. This epic operation was in addition to constructing diaphragm walls and a secant pile wall to support the various launch boxes and headwalls. They say you can't be bored in San Francisco - but we'd have to disagree. (You can actually be bored - and grouted and monitored.)
