On the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, we renew our vow to “never forget” and remember those who lost their lives, the families who lost loved ones, and those who have since died from 9/11-related illnesses. The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) leads and coordinates New Jersey’s counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and emergency preparedness efforts while building resiliency throughout the State. The office is led by Director Laurie Doran and comprised of four Divisions: Intelligence and Operations, Preparedness, New Jersey Cybersecurity and Integration Cell and Administration. The Office is primarily based out of Hamilton with a satellite office in Newark. The Office is designated as the State Administrative Agency (SAA) for all federal homeland security and preparedness funding. This week, the NJ Department of State, NJOHSP, the NJCCIC, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency hosted an election cybersecurity and preparedness exercise. Election officials from all 21 counties participated, strengthening the state's collective readiness for the 2024 presidential election.

Director Laurie Doran and State partners toured key training sites as NJOHSP and NJCCIC took part in New Jersey National Guard's 2024 Vigilant Guard exercise, designed to enhance NJ's disaster response readiness and collaboration between military and civilian first responders.

This week, NJOHSP Director Laurie Doran and Deputy Director Daniel Engelhardt attended the 2024 National Governors Association / Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council summer meetings at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. The meetings provided opportunities to discuss current homeland security issues and mitigation strategies with other states' Homeland Security Advisors. As part of the discussion, Director Doran and Deputy Director Engelhardt presented on a panel which highlighted New Jersey's model for securing special events and large mass gatherings.
