This work I have the privilege to do is meaningful and important. Every day we get to help people like… -My friend Wilson Du, who spent nearly six years on dialysis and who is now living a full life and paying it forward everyday two years post-transplant. I couldn’t be more honored that I was able to share my spare with him! -And even closer to home, we get to help people like my brother Matthew Hewitt, who is so many wonderful things that a human can be, kind, funny, creative, a loving dad, husband, son, brother…and is now one of the 4% of Americans facing kidney cancer and will soon become a member of the one kidney club. I’m grateful that NKF is a wealth of information for people like Wilson and Matt, that we are doing the work to improve outcomes. I’m grateful that we can be a source of hope for everyone who has been touched by kidney disease. It’s our why, it’s my why.
