North Texas Medical Center is celebrating 20 years today! On August 17, 2004, the first patient was admitted to NTMC. A lot of work went into preparing the new facility to see patients, as well as moving equipment, furniture and files from the Gainesville Memorial Hospital location. We still have some amazing employees that were part of that transition 20 years ago. Read more about it here => https://lnkd.in/gCtuX_-E

Today, Gainesville's Michelle Landeros completed a summer internship at NTMC as part of her Master's Degree program at the University of Texas at Arlington. Michelle will be graduating this fall with a Master's of Science Degree in Health Care Administration. Here is what she had to say about her internship: "I was directly involved in the day-to-day management tasks that are essential for maintaining smooth operations within a healthcare setting. I gained in-depth knowledge of operational management, focusing on the critical aspects required to ensure a department runs efficiently. I gained insights in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation in a hospital setting. I have a better understanding about revenue cycles, billing, coding, and how financial decisions impact patient care and hospital sustainability." Michelle is a graduate of Gainesville High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from UTA. We wish her the best in her future career in healthcare.

Did you know that older adults are more likely to develop chronic wounds? As we age, the healing process slows. While older adults can heal, specialized care from a wound center can aid and accelerate the healing process. Our Med/Surg Department organized a School Supply Donation Drive at the hospital last month. Today, employees will be taking the supplies to the Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County so they can distribute supplies to students who may need them. We hope all area students and teachers have a great 2024-25 school year!
