We are excited to get the 2024-25 school year underway! Our district theme for the year is Joy of Learning. Learning should be challenging, rigorous, and fun! Throughout the year, we will be sharing examples of the joyful learning happening in our schools every day. Let's start it off with the NTPS Future-Ready Kindergarten program, where students learn social and academic skills that prepare them for success in school!

We are grateful for our hard-working Information Technology (IT) team! The team has been working all summer to prepare technology for a smooth start to the school year. Just a few of their projects: 💻 Refreshed student library computers across all schools. 💻 New front office kiosks for volunteer check-in. 💻 New interactive flat panels in classrooms at five schools as part of an ongoing refesh cycle. 💻 Preparing Chromebooks for incoming students.

Thank you to the staff and community volunteers who helped assemble backpacks and school supplies for NTPS families in need! ✏️📙✂️ We are so grateful for this longstanding partnership with Little Red Schoolhouse, which allows students to start the school year with pride. Backpacks and supplies will be available at each of our schools later this month on a first come, first served basis.

This week, more than 200 NTPS educators learned about the foundational reading skills routines we’ll be rolling out to all kindergarten through 2nd-grade students this year! Enhanced Core Reading Instruction (ECRI) is a daily 30-minute foundational reading skills routine that is overlaid onto the comprehensive reading curriculum. Several of our schools implemented it as part of a national reading study over the past three years, and we’re excited to bring it to all K-2 students this year. 📚

Get to know our new Superintendent Troy Oliver! Troy will hold community meetings this fall—watch for more information on our website.
As North Thurston Public Schools bids farewell to Dr. Deb Clemens, it welcomes Troy Oliver as the new Superintendent. Oliver's move into this role marks a shift for the district, but it also ensures continuity and a strong commitment to educational excellence. As Oliver steps into his new role, his approach is marked by humility and a willingness to listen. "I'm embarking on a listening tour for the first six months, engaging with community groups, tribal leaders, and business leaders. I don't want to assume we know everything," he says. Outside the office, Oliver's life is anchored in family and boating, and he spends time on the water with his family. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gehz7yQy
