Last week marked a significant stride in Yamaha's advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, with both Marine and Motorsports alongside Yamaha Golf-Car Company joining forces for the first time. Together, we all championed policies for sustainable fuels and hydrogen, aligning with our carbon neutrality goals. Collaboration was key as we all engaged with industry associations and like-minded groups to amplify our impact. As Martin Peters, Director of Marine External Affairs, aptly stated, 'Growing the coalition on sustainable fuels and hydrogen is important, perhaps the most important part of the effort to achieve carbon neutrality for use of our products. 'Our engagement at various events, including fly-ins and industry forums, provided platforms to underscore the importance of sustainable practices. Stephen Donnell, President of Yamaha Golf Car, emphasized this, saying, 'The efforts we made at National Golf Day are laying the groundwork for a sustainable future by raising awareness about the challenges the golf industry is currently facing with members of Congress.' Exciting outcomes emerged from our advocacy, including interest from Chevron to work with Yamaha on sustainable fuel initiatives, an agreement with SEMA board members to work with NMMA and Yamaha on sustainable fuel policy, and an invitation from SEMA to present at a panel discussion on sustainable technology during Monterey Car Week, August 18. Reflecting on the week's achievements, Donnell emphasized, 'We are excited to work with SEMA to showcase Yamaha's Hydrogen Powered Golf-Car. There is still work to be done, but we remain steadfast in our endeavor toward carbon neutrality through hydrogen and are optimistic about the future of this technology.'
