The National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) is a national multiethnic, multiracial partnership network of 60 of the country’s leading immigrant and refugee rights organizations who together advocate for policies and programs to successfully integrate New Americans as full contributors to our nation, able to build lives of dignity for themselves and their families. NPNA exists to: 1) strengthen immigrant and refugee voices in our nation by building the policy and program capacities of our member organizations; and, 2) pursue policy campaigns with our members at the local, state, and federal level; and, 3) deepen our strategic partnership to advance immigrant and refugee inclusion and equity in the United States. Our members organize their constituencies and advocate for better policies for the communities they represent. Our members also provide direct services, including immigration legal services, deportation defense, adult education, voter registration, financial literacy, workforce development, health care enrollment, and English classes. NPNA exists to leverage our members’ collective power and expertise to build a better nation for all.

Outrageous and false claims against Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, must be challenged. In their recent op-ed, Marleine Bastien and Brian Concannon expose how these fabrications are part of a dangerous dehumanization playbook, historically used to incite violence against marginalized communities. It’s time for all of us to step up, stand for truth, and protect the humanity of our neighbors. Read more in the Miami Herald: bit.ly/maimiheraldoped

In battleground states like Nevada, where fewer than 10% of votes could sway November’s elections, new Americans could make a huge impact. Advocacy groups like ACDC, NPNA, and PLAN are working to raise awareness and empower naturalized citizens to make their votes count. “Kitchen table issues matter for our community, just like they do for our U.S.-born counterparts,” said Nicole Melaku, NPNA’s Executive Director. “Removing barriers to opportunity and ensuring an economy that works for all is top of mind for people.” This week marks the start of a 3-week tour visiting swing states to emphasize civic engagement. “Those polled are among the over 3.5 million new Americans that have naturalized since the last presidential election, and with naturalized voters now accounting for over 10 percent of the U.S. electorate nationwide, they have the potential to play an outsized role in key states this November. What is clear from the polling is that new Americans are paying close attention to this election and are highly committed to vote,” said Nicole Melaku, executive director of NPNA.
