To achieve these efforts, we will not only support the establishment of cutting-edge AI and analytic services but also focus on addressing key gaps in data management, infrastructure, and operations while developing data services that include curation, data cataloging, engineering, and governance. Over the last two days, members of the team had the opportunity to attend American Meteorological Society’s Summer Community Meeting. Not only did we make new connections but we also walked away from this conference with invaluable information from the Weather Enterprise community. Key takeaways include: ✅ Collaboratively defining roles across the weather enterprise is a vital step for the weather community and must be done now. ✅ Workforce development for the modern technological challenges in weather forecasting is a critical need across the community, including government. ✅ Understanding and defining the role of AI/ML in forecasting and predictive models is a challenge, but one which is achievable with cooperation between the government, private, academic, and non-profit segments of the weather enterprise. We are grateful we attended #AMSSCM2024 and look forward to collaborating with the meteorological community in the near future.
