During a month-long initiative comprised of several environmentally focused activities, our team creatively repurposed recycled tee shirts into fun and durable dog toys, which were then donated to a local animal shelter. This initiative not only helped reduce waste but also brought joy to our furry friends in need. Following an inaugural Women’s Leadership Summit — GALVANIZE in Charlotte, Nucor Building Systems-Indiana recently hosted a spin off event, the Northeast Indiana Women’s Leadership Summit —GALVANIZE for women group leaders, supervisors, and managers among the Nucor product groups in Dekalb County, Indiana. A total of thirty participants were from NBS-IN, Nucor Insulated Panel Group, Nucor Fastener, Nucor Rebar Fabrication, and Vulcraft. The focus was on education and development topics that provide unique insight to women leaders, as well as networking and relationship building. Participants were also able to interact with General Managers, providing them with feedback and insight into concerns or challenges.

Safety is our #1 priority. Taking care of our customers begins with taking care of our teammates who get the job done. Throughout the year, our divisions take time from their regular schedule to focus on safety education. NBS-IN recently held a Safety Day and invited teammates' families to join.
NBS-IN recently celebrated Safety Day 2024 at the Waterloo location. Safety Day was a hands-on, fun way to teach a variety of safe practices to our teammates and their families. Teammates attended required training on heat illness, ladder, and fire extinguisher safety. Families were able to participate in plant tours, a car and bike safety clinic, impaired driving, and grill safety, as well as archery tag, hand safety games, remote-controlled cranes, and a virtual reality forklift simulator. Face painting, ice cream, and snow cones rounded out the fun! #safety

In support of Metal Health Awareness, teammates at our Waterloo, IN location turned green — the official color of mental health awareness. Green represents renewal, hope and vitality. According to a 2021 National Institute of Mental Health study, more than one in five (more than 57 million) adults live with a mental illness in the U.S. alone. With so many people affected, mental health issues are likely to touch you or someone you know, whether in your personal life or in the workplace.
